Diablo 2: Resurrected has finally been revealed during the BlizzConline event, to the delight of fans around the world.
For the armies of hard-core Diablo fans, this is great news, but many are being cautious as well, considering what happened with the WarCraft 3 Reforged release, which was a complete fiasco.
It is known that the Diablo 2 fanbase is one of the most dedicated gaming communities, with many playing the game almost without pause for the last two decades.
Some of them have years-old characters and are wondering what will happen with those builds they were making for so long, with hundreds of hours of put into them. Will they be able to load their old save fils on Diablo 2 Resurrected?
Well, we got some good news for you!

It turns out that old Diablo 2 save files will work perfectly fine with Diablo 2 Resurrected!
This was confirmed by Matthew Cederquist, who is working as a game producer at Blizzard.
Talking to IGN Middle East, Matthew said that it was something they didn't even work on actively, rather someone at some point has decided to test it, and it simply worked.
"Back when we were working on the remaster, we wondered if the old save files would work and we kind of shoved it in and it worked," he explained. "And we were like, "okay, that’s the best feature ever".
So there you have it, you will be able to use old your old characters you've spent so many hours with even with the remaster!
This means that you will be able to experience your favourite characters and builds in a brand new environment of Diablo 2 Resurrected, with beautiful new visuals, improved networking, and even cross-progression between PC and consoles!
Diablo 2: Resurrected is slated for release later this year for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
