Adam KiciÅski, president of CD Projekt, suggested that Cyberpunk 2077 will have at least the same amount of post-launch content as The Witcher 3. This was confirmed in a Polish investor Q&A on Thursday, April 9th (via VGC).
KiciÅski said that they will announce all DLC content in a similar fashion as they did with The Witcher 3, which was a few months ahead of the planned game release (the original launch date of February 2015 was later postponed to May 19th of that year).
The Witcher 3 had 16 free DLCs of a smaller scope, such as new "Contract" quests, armour sets, weapons, cosmetics and New Game+. Those were all released in two months right after the game was launched, with a two-per-week cadence.
Besides these free DLCs, The Witcher 3 also had two major paid expansion packs - Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Combined, they added 30+ hours of new content, with new locations, new storylines, new quests, items, characters, etc. They could easily pass as a standalone game each and are generally highly-praised amongst both critics and players alike.
So, if that's the amount of extra content we're going to get, that's some excellent news to hear! Cyberpunk 2077 will also have multiplayer, but we won't see it before 2022. Earlier this year, it was confirmed by the studio that the scope of Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer is so immense, that they have a separate full-blown AAA team working solely on it.
Cyberpunk 2077 is planned for release on September 17, 2020, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
