Meta Horror Among Ashes Launches December 9

Solo developer Rat Cliff Games has announced a 9 December 2024 release date for its upcoming PS5 and PC metafictional horror title Among Ashes. The game takes players back to the early 2000s as they play an online game called Night Call - but the game doesn't stay within the console, with the horror bleeding into the real world. As you solve puzzles in Night Call, you'll try to solve the mystery behind its creator, all while still evading entities in the real world.

"It features an innovative, meta-framing device in which players will experience a full retro-inspired first-person survival horror game within another first-person horror game," Rat Cliff Games said. "[That's] in addition to a host of unique presentational touches, narrative surprises, mechanics and puzzles that transport players back to the turn of the millennium - providing a terrifying dose of nostalgia in the process."

Among Ashes is Rat Cliff Games' second title, following the release of the epic 3D-platformer One True Hero in 2022. Fans can now preview Among Ashes via the demo, which is available via Steam.
