Women in Games have announced their shortlisted candidates for the 2021 Women in Games Global Awards, with 20 award categories, covering a wide range of video game and esports disciplines, this year’s edition promises to be the biggest yet.
To mark the occasion, a partnership with GINX Esports TV will see the awards broadcast on the 18th of September. The company will also join the Women in Games Corporate Partnership programme, part of its commitment to championing diversity in gaming and esports.
Awards include ‘Most Influential Esports Host’, ‘Most Valuable Esports Player’, and ‘Favourite Female Gaming Protagonist of the Year’. Nominees run the gamut of the industry; Frankie Ward is among many well-known casting talents up for Most Influential Esports Host, while those less visible but equally important like Abby Reynolds and Anisah 'geomancy' Munim of NUEL, the UK’s biggest university esports organiser, are both up for ‘Most Influential Gaming Community Manager’.
Select awards will be decided by public vote which can be made via the Women in Games Festival website.
The ceremony will be the final event in a two-week-long Women in Games Global Festival which also features the annual Women in Games Conference, esports tournaments, and a week-long Games jam.
“GINX Esports TV joining our corporate ambassadorship programme signifies a growing number of organisations which want to put diversity and inclusion front and centre of their business," said Marie-Claire Isaaman, CEO of Women in Games.
"We are excited to work with them on broadcasting the Global Awards Ceremony to our largest audience ever, celebrating games and gaming talent from right across the world."
