As players continue exploring each environment and solving the puzzles that await them, they'll be left with more questions than answers regarding "the nature of the cosmos and the purpose of civilization." These questions will influence the choices made and which side to take, either in the hopes of believing in a promise to secure our futures or not repeating past mistakes, opting to side with faith or humanity, which will decide what events may follow.
Players can expect a "new generation of puzzles" in The Talos Principle 2, each having various difficulties, which include metapuzzles and the highly challenging Gold puzzles. They do have the option not to complete every puzzle in-game or solve all puzzles to claim valuable rewards; the decision on how to play is sorely up to the players.
The game will also welcome a variety of new gameplay mechanics like gravitational manipulation and mind transfer alongside returning abilities featured in the original game. Likewise, there are new environments to explore and discover new puzzles, including an ominous island that may provide the keys to the future and can break from solving the puzzles to find long-lost history and unearth secrets buried within the surroundings.
