With a demo now available to play via Steam before its release on PC, players test themselves in solving the puzzles to be "granted entry into New Jerusalem as a citizen." As such, those hoping to play the game via Steam have also wondered if the game will be verified for the Steam Deck.
The game's developer hasn't confirmed any details regarding if it's playable on the Steam Deck; there has been much discussion regarding this subject in the lead-up to its release. We've discussed in this guide the verification status of The Talos Principle 2 and whether the game is playable on the Steam Deck at launch.

With developer Croteam gearing up for the global release of The Talos Principle 2 across multiple platforms, PC players can experience a portion of the game in the demo available via Steam. Steam Deck owners have asked whether the game can be played on the handheld device, as the developer outlined the minimum and recommended PC requirements to run the game with minor performance issues.
As of writing, we cannot confirm if The Talos Principle 2 will be verified for the Steam Deck ahead of its launch or post-launch. However, there have been a few player reports that the game can be played on the Steam Deck, with some technical limitations.
In several General Discussion threads on Steam, players have commented that while the game is currently unverified for the Steam Deck, it can be played based on playtests with the demo. One player stated that while they could get the game running on the Steam Deck, it will run at 40 FPS, but it does require Proton Experimental, or it will crash.
Another player reported that playing The Talos Principle 2 demo on the Steam Deck doesn’t support “ full simultaneous input,” thus causing intermittent flickering of controls, making solving puzzles impossible. A player who revealed a game cutscene at the start of the demo froze their screen, unable to progress with the gameplay as such.
But, there is a glimmer of hope as another commentator revealed that they managed to get the game running on the Steam Deck and completed the demo. While they, too, managed to get the Talos Principle 2 running between 40 to 60 FPS, they enabled Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) with Performance Mode and kept the remainder of the visual settings on low.
For now, The Talos Principle remains unverified for the Steam Deck but is playable with some workarounds to prevent it from crashing. We’ll continue to update this guide with the latest news and updates regarding the game’s Steam Deck verification status once the game launches.
The Talos Principle 2 launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam on 2nd November 2023. The game is available to pre-order and can be added to the Wishlist for PlayStation and PC.
