Super Mario Bros. Wonder: All Playable Characters

There are a lot of games that were released in during the first half of 2023 and a large majority of them were major hits. These last few months, however, were looking pretty blank but Nintendo has since filled it with a lot of games including Super Mario Bros. Wonder. 

With Mario Wonder coming out soon, there are still plenty of questions that people have about the game. For example, a lot of people were wondering about online multiplayer  but also which characters are playable. Here's what you need to know.

Which Characters Are Playable In Mario Wonder?

In the most recent Direct, we got a lot of information about Mario Wonder including the playable characters. Surprisingly, there's a lot to choose from. Including color variety, there are actually 12 playable characters in Mario Wonder. Here is the Mario Wonder roster:

• Luigi
• Peach
• Daisy
• Blue Toad
• Yellow Toad
• Toadette
• Green Yoshi
• Blue Yoshi
• Red Yoshi
• Yellow Yoshi
• Nabbit

From what we can tell, all the characters listed above are playable right from the start of the game. There are no unlocking characters that we know of so far. It is possible that there are hidden characters like Rosalina from the previous Mario games. There could also be other characters as well that could be unlocked later down the line.

Do All Characters Play The Same In Mario Wonder?

In previous games, characters like Mario, Luigi, and Peach would play differently from one another. Mario would be standard, Luigi would jump higher, and other factors were in place. But this time around, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, the Toads, and Toadette all play in the same exact way. You will not get an advantage for playing one over the other.

The Yoshis and Nabbit do play differently from the other characters though. Yoshi and Nabbit can only be defeated by falling into a pit and they do not benefit from Power-Ups. Yoshi can use his tongue to eat up enemies and can flutter jump to reach higher places. Think of Yoshi and Nabbit as "easy mode" characters for Mario Wonder.
