Bethesda Game Studios' massive space RPG, Starfield, releases on 6 September or 1 September for those with Early Access. We are all insanely hyped for this humongous, open-world RPG with over 1000 planets to explore, and some gamers are wondering if Starfield has a New Game Plus (NG+) mode.
While Starfield probably doesn't even need a NG+ mode since the game is so massive, we will discuss this mode's availability at launch and how you can possibly unlock it.
Starfield New Game+ Mode at Launch?
We aren't going to beat around the space rock here; Starfield will have a New Game Plus mode! Bethesda's Todd Howard recently confirmed this in an interview with GQ Magazine. Specifically, Todd Howard said:
Starfield delivers Bethesda Game Studios' most immersive role-playing since 2006's Oblivion. It gives you the flexibility and options to carve out a unique identity and even adds a unique and exciting twist on New Game+ to incentivize continued and repeat play.
Bethesda Game Studios titles generally do not have a NG+ mode. They are already so huge, and players can normally just mess around as much as they want in the world, even after completing the story.
At the time of writing, no one knows what this "unique and exciting twist" on the New Game Plus formula is for Starfield. Generally speaking, NG+ mode in games lets you keep character progress and most items (except for story items) and lets you replay the game as a powerful character, while enemies are generally stronger as well. We will have to let you know once official Starfield NG+ details become available.
How To Unlock NG+ Mode in Starfield
Once you complete the Starfield main story, you will be given some options. You can start the game over with the same character, either skipping the main quest or doing a shorter version of it, or playing through it entirely. Lastly, you can keep playing on your original save without starting New Game+.
What Carries Over in Starfield New Game+?
First up, you won't keep your items, ship, or outposts built. You will only keep your character level, experience, power, and progress you've made with your skills. Relationships you've built with other characters will also be lost.
You do get a shiny new ship for your troubles, though! Saying much more would be considered severe spoilers.
