Kay Vess can gain access to an array of unique skills, abilities, and upgrades that will make her quite the feared sharpshooter in the galaxy far, far away. While exploring the main story questline, they'll gain a new ability that allows them to eliminate multiple targets simultaneously, which is called the Adrenaline Rush Tag ability.
This ability is best suited when encountering mobs of enemies and can be effective when targeting explosive barrels and moving targets. This guide briefly explains what the Adrenaline Rush Tag ability entails, how to unlock it, and a few extra details on becoming the ultimate gunslinger in Star Wars Outlaws.
What Is The Adrenaline Rush Tag Ability In Star Wars Outlaws? Explained
After Kay and Nix manage to escape Canto Bight by absconding with the Trailblazer, they’ll, unfortunately, crash land on Toshara before being ambushed by a group of bandits. This starts the subsequent quest, where an innocent bystander gets caught in the crossfire, and it’s up to Kay and Nix to fend off their attacks to save themselves and the bystander from further calamity.
Around this juncture, a new ability for the Blaster will become available for Kay to utilize to eliminate the bandits called the Adrenaline Rush Tag. Using this ability, Kay can take out all the bandits simultaneously to close out the quest, but what does this ability do, and how can it be best utilized in-game?
Based on its in-game description, the Adrenaline Rush Tag allows Kay to mark or tag, in this instance, multiple enemies before quickly eliminating them with her Blaster. This can only be used when her adrenaline meter, which appears on-screen, is full and triggered, letting her tag them before firing shots before the adrenaline meter depletes.
This ability functions quite similarly to Red Dead Redemption’s Deadeye system, and it can be upgraded by successfully locating a specific Expert NPC and completing the associated Intel chain quest. Once they’ve unlocked the Expert NPC, they meet particular objectives to gain the upgraded version of the Adrenaline Rush Tag, which increases the targets by two and can mark objects like exploding barrels.
But it’s not the Blaster that benefits from the Adrenaline Rush Tag ability, as this extends to her Speeder, which players can use while on the vehicle. Like with the Blaster, she can build up the meter while on the Speeder before triggering it to tag enemies and eliminate them; however, players have complained about not being able to use it while on the Speeder without using the Adrenaline Rush Tag ability.
Triggering the Adrenaline Rush Tag will slow down time, giving them a small window to tag enemies and take them out. As for how to build up their Adrenaline meter, it’s quite straightforward as it builds up over time when Kay’s under pressure, and the best and fastest way is when in combat, which should be easy for players to achieve.
Another thing to note is that this ability is tied to an Achievement, "Shoot First," where Kay must eliminate six enemies "simultaneously using the Adrenaline Rush" ability. They may need the upgraded Adrenaline Rush Tag ability to meet the Achievement's requirements, which we'll detail in a separate guide on how to gain this ability in-game.
We have yet to test if the Adrenaline Rush Tag will apply to other weapons Kay can wield; however, these weapons are temporary, as she’ll switch back to the Blaster once they’ve run out of ammo. As such, we’ll update this guide with more information on whether the Adrenaline Rush Tag also works with the temporary weapons available in Star Wars Outlaws and adjust this guide accordingly.
