Skate 4, or just "Skate," as was revealed in a developer stream in July 2022, is the next mainline Skate game on the horizon. The game is confirmed to be free-to-play, and the developers assured fans that the game would also not be heavily monetized. "No map areas locked behind a paywall" is a statement the developers gave to worried fans, and we are happy to hear this.
With how much other sports games receive yearly releases, such as Fifa or Madden, skateboarding games seem to have fallen by the wayside. So, if you are ready to get your hands on the next Skate game, we've got you covered. This article will cover everything known about Skate 4, including release dates, gameplay features, leaks, and more.

Skate 4 Release Date Speculation
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmed release date for Skate 4, but in this article, you’ll find all (if any) information that the developer shared, as well as some speculation from Ginx on when we could see it launch.
After being announced in 2020, developers stated that Skate 4 was still in early development. The formed team that would be working on the game was confirmed via Twitter in January 2021. So, if the team was only created in January 2021, there is clearly still a lot of work left to be done on Skate 4.
EA CEO Andre Wilson suggested that the game will "launch soon," but there has been very little confirmation with regard to the date. It is also impossible to estimate a release date based on previous titles. The three Skate games (and Skate It) were all released one year after the other. It has been more than a decade since the last mainline Skate game. For these reasons, it is speculated that Skate 4 will release in 2023 at the earliest.
Skate 4 Gameplay Features
Not much is known about Skate 4 aside from some pre-alpha footage that we will cover later in the article. One of the biggest additions to Skate 4 is cross-platform and cross-progression play, allowing players to advance their skating skills on whatever platform they choose.
Additionally, the developers have stated that there may be a more social mode where players can hang out at skate parks with other players. Jeff Grub, who has been in contact with the developers and has played the pre-alpha, stated that:
“They are going to be taking some modern stuff, specifically the kind of stuff you might see in a Forza game or a lot of modern online multiplayer games, where you’re going to have a lot of customization options for your character, a lot of skins, skins for your board, things like that. And there’s going to be a lot of user-generated content, where you can wrap up your board with some crazy stuff that the community has made – they’re going to really emphasize that stuff."

This is Skate 4 pre-alpha footage. This is in line with what I've heard about where the game is at from multiple people. They're trying to get the feel right, which is probably the most important aspect of a Skate game. https://t.co/AXNV2Agk6zpic.twitter.com/nUINhghxLg
