Skate will apparently be receiving console playtesting sooner rather than later, according to a new blog post from EA.
In the blog post, EA discusses how the last year of playtesting has gone and specifically what data they've managed to pull from the playtesting itself. Towards the end of the blog post, EA also drops the following piece of information:
"We also want to give a shout-out to the console skate. community - yes we are still currently only playtesting on PC but we promise console playtesting will be coming. We don't have a date to share just yet, but stay tuned."
A fourth entry in the Skate franchise was announced three years ago, in 2020, and was announced as a free-to-play title last year. There's no confirmed release date for the game yet, and no indication as to how far in development the game actually is, but we do know that the game is set in a brand-new city and is intended to release on mobile platforms as well as PC and consoles.
With Gamescom Opening Night Live rapidly approaching in August, we may finally see more information revealed on the long-awaited revival of the series, perhaps alongside an official date announcement for console playtesting, though we wouldn't get our hopes up for that just yet given how quiet the last few years have been.
