Japanese publisher Bandai Namco announced on social media the demo for the upcoming action RPG Sand Land is now available for players across multiple platforms. Based on the manga series of the same name by the late and legendary manga artist Akira Toriyama, the game was first revealed in June 2023 during the Summer Game Fest before a release date was confirmed in January 2024.
With Bandai Namco as its publisher, the game is developed by ILCA, Inc., the team behind the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl games, which, according to its official announcement, will heavily be centered on "vehicular and character combat." The action RPG is set in a desert world where humans and demons struggle in a dire battle for survival due to "an extreme water shortage," which its characters begin a pursuit of the Legendary Spring.
Players will be playing as Beelzebub, the Fiend Prince, as they traverse across the desert and explore the world in multiple vehicles and will have a few characters joining Beelzebub in his adventures throughout Sand Land. Some characters joining him include a local sheriff, Rao, who looks to the demons to help save the citizens from this dire crisis, and the demon, Thief, who possesses an interesting skillset that will be useful during the trio's adventures.
The trio will encounter dangerous foes and exciting characters who will assist Beelzebub in finding the Legendary Spring while uncovering the many secrets scattered across Sand Land. Likewise, players will gain access to vehicles that can be fully customized with unique loadouts to aid them in their exploration by overcoming numerous obstacles.
Sand Land is confirmed to launch for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on 26th April 2024, with a demo and pre-orders now available for these platforms. An original net animation (ONA) series is slated to be released globally on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States on 20th March 2024.
