Ubisoft has just revealed the first details about Year 6 Season 3 Crystal Guard for their tactical shooter R6: Siege.
Asides from map reworks, armour alterations, balance updates, and other exciting changes, the biggest star of Crystal Guard is the latest operator to be added to Rainbow Six Siege's roster, Anja “Osa” Janković.
Osa (Wasp) is described as "an engineering prodigy" from Croatia. She is trained in electromechanics, military engineering and robotics, and she is a founder of Nighthaven's R&D department called "Quantum Concepts & Robotics". And she is obsessed with '60s sci-fi movies!
When it comes to gameplay, Osa is a medium-speed, medium-armour attacker coming equipped with gadgets that make her a very interesting offensive choice.
Let's check out everything that Osa brings to the table alongside the Y6S3 Crystal Guard update.
Operator Osa gadget Talon-8 Shield
Osa's unique gadget is her Talon-8 Shield shield.
The Talon-8 Shield is completely transparent and bulletproof, and it can create some unique and intense situations where both sides see each other, but can't inflict damage on the other side. A very useful tool for attackers trying to push and establish forward positions.
Her shield offers a lot of versatility as it can be used in various ways.
- The Talon-8 Shield can be carried around by Osa, in which case it protects her upper torso and head completely.
- It can be deployed anywhere on the floor.
- It can be fixed on window/door frames while also breaking any barricades.
The fact that the shield is both transparent and bulletproof means that it gives attackers a strategic line of sight into areas occupied by defenders, allowing Osa's team to create a strategy accordingly and disrupt defenders' plans.
Of course, the Talon-8 Shield is not indestructible, and you can get rid of them in a couple of ways.
While the Talon-8 Shield is completely bulletproof, an impact grenade or C4 can easily destroy the shield.
Things like smoke and gas grenades, as well as Tachanka's Shumikha Launcher, can be a great tool to push players behind the shield out of their position and force them to retreat.
Defenders can also approach the shield and melee it to shatter the glass, making the shield no longer transparent.
Finally, you can aim for the pressurized canisters near the bottom, which will remove the deployed shield completely, but they are only reachable from the inner side.
