The number of Pokémon that can be caught in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is somewhat overwhelming. The available Pokémon to catch aren’t just limited to the standard Sinnoh Pokédex, as places like the Grand Underground hold numerous mons to catch that aren’t added to the Pokédex until the post-game.
One of the Pokémon included on this list is the Beldum line, which ends with the popular pseudo-Legendary Metagross. The Psychic and Steel-type is a formidable force for players that didn’t take advantage of the free Jirachi in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
However, players need to first know how to catch Beldum if they wish to add Metagross to their team.
As with most other rare Pokémon in Sinnoh, you’ll need to have beaten the main story and Elite Four of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl. Then, you need to acquire the National Dex from Professor Rowan/Oak once you’ve seen all 151 Pokémon in Sinnoh.
This will unlock a number of exclusive Pokémon to new areas. However, some Pokémon are also added to certain Grand Underground caves once you have the Natioanl Dex. This is the case with Beldum.
In order to catch the one-eyed mon, you’ll want to go underground and find one of the following caves:
- Big Bluff Cavern
- Whiteout Cave
- Rocky Cave
- Icy Cavern
- Glacial Cavern
All of these caves in the Grand Underground have a chance to spawn Beldum. If it doesn’t appear for you on your first trip to any of the caves, simply exit and then re-enter the cave to reroll the Pokémon that spawn inside of the area.
If the Grand Underground isn’t working out for you, then you can also try and look for Beldum on Route 228 in the grass.
After you catch Beldum, you can evolve it into Metang at level 20 and Metagross at level 45. Neither of Beldum’s evolutions appears anywhere else in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, so your only hope is finding Beldum and training it.
