How To Get Flying Terastal Pikachu In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

With all the new gameplay features coming with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, one of the most interesting is the new Terastallizing mechanic. This mechanic allows Pokémon to change their original typing into an entirely new type. When Terrastalized, Pokémon will be covered in a glowing aura that gives off the appearance of a rare gemstone. They will also wear a unique head ornament that is supposed to symbolize their updated type. 

Terastallizing not only looks really cool but will be the biggest shake-up to competitive play in years! Now, Pokémon that once had glaring weaknesses will be able to get rid of them at the push of a button! To celebrate the release of Terastal Pokémon, Game Freak is giving away a special Flying-type Terastal Pikachu. Here's how to get it!

How To Get Flying Terastal Pikachu In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

Firstly, you do not have to preorder Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to get Flying Terastal Pikachu. Admittedly, the wording Game Freak chose to use is a bit misleading. However, it should be restated that an "Early-purchase bonus" is not the same as a "Pre-order."

All you need to do is buy either Pokémon Scarlet or Violet and have played them on your Switch before February 28, 2023. If all of these criteria have been met, here's how to claim your Flying Terastal Pikachu!

• Load up your copy of Pokémon Scarlet or Violet.
• Play through the game for about 1-2 hours until you unlock the Mystery Gift function.
• Return to the main menu and select the "Mystery Gift" option and then "Get via internet."
• Select the Flying Terastal Pikachu option to collect your prize! 

How To Claim Flying Terastal Pikachu In-Game In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

Usually, Mystery Gifts such as these are collected at any in-game Pokémon Center. An NPC will be waiting for you at the back of the Pokémon Center, and if you speak to him, he will offer you any Mystery Gifts you have already claimed. 

If you plan on shiny hunting any of these Mystery Gift Pokémon (provided they are not shiny-locked), it is a good idea to save the game before talking to this NPC. You have the option to decline the claiming of a Mystery Gift, but to save time for your reset marathon, saving in the Pokémon Center is the most efficient method.
