Pokémon GO has seen an increased rate of Water and Ice-type Pokémon spawning in multiple events. They can also be encountered in various Raid activities in the Season of Mythical Wishes. Many of these types have been seen in the weekly in-game event Spotlight Hour, for which the next featured Pokémon is the icy crystal Pokémon, Bergmite.
First introduced during last year's Holiday event, Bergmite will appear more frequently, but a Shiny Bergmite has been long requested, which begs the question of whether Trainers can find one in-game. We detailed everything about the Bergmite Spotlight Hour and determined whether you can find a Shiny Bergmite in Pokémon GO.
Is There A Shiny Bergmite In Pokémon GO?
Trainers who have yet to catch this ice-chunk-looking Pokémon will be lucky, as there is a chance of encountering a Shiny Bergmite during the Spotlight Hour event, according to Pokémon source Leek Duck. While Shiny Bergmite was previously unavailable for you to catch, the Ice-type Pokémon will make its Shiny debut for the current Winter Holiday Part 1 event in Pokémon GO.
The Bergmite Spotlight Hour will take place on 20th December 2022 for an hour between 6 pm and 7 pm local time. During the hour, you can make the most of the unique event bonus of double Catch Candy when attempting to track and catch Bergmite and other Pokémon spawning in the wild.
Additionally, other event bonuses for the other Spotlight Hour events will be active during Bergmite’s Spotlight Hour event to maximize the item quantity received. If you’re not sure of which event bonuses are available for December 2022’s Spotlight Hour event, here’s another look at all event bonuses detailed below:
- Double Catch Stardust
- Double Catch XP
- Double Catch Candy
- Double Transfer Candy
How To Find A Shiny Bergmite in Pokémon GO?
Your best chance of encountering and catching a Shiny Bergmite, like with previous Shiny forms, is to find it spawning in the wild. Luckily for you, Bergmite also appears more frequently in wild encounters and as a one-star Raid Boss for the Winter Holiday Part 1 event.
Once spotted, you can use Lure Modules or Incense to lure Bergmite to your location, including PokéStops. As Bergmite is an Ice-type Pokémon, you can also utilize a Glacial Lure Module, which attracts Water and Ice-type Pokémon towards the activated PokéStop, which increases your chances of spotting Bergmite and other Water and Ice-type Pokémon.
Interact with the Ice-type Pokémon to see whether you’ve encountered a normal or Shiny Bergmite to add them to your Pokédex and your Item Bag. Poké Balls should work fine in catching Bergmite or Shiny Bergmite, and you can try your hand at catching more Bergmite to gain more Candy to evolve it.
Trainers will need 50 Bergmite Candy to evolve Bergmite to Avalugg, for which you can increase your Catch Candy rate during the Spotlight Hour. However, suppose you miss out on the Spotlight Hour event; you may have another chance at getting Bergmite and Avalugg in the upcoming Hisuian Avalugg Raid Day event scheduled for 24th December 2022 (Christmas Eve) in Pokémon GO.
