Palia: Where To Find All Winterlights Treasure Chests

Between completing the new Winterlights quest and decorating the Winterlights Tree, the Winter update for Palia will certainly get players into the festive spirit. However, a mysterious letter from Zeki reveals more surprises can be found by locating Winterlights Treasure Chests when exploring Kilima Village.

These unique chests can be found using the clues provided by Zeki, provided that they know where exactly to look. Before this information is buried forever, we've detailed all the clues and locations in this guide on where to find all the Winterlights Treasure Chests in Palia.

How To Find All The Winterlights Treasure Chests In Palia?

The Holiday season has descended onto Kilima Village once again as new seasonal content became available in the 0.186 update, the Season of Splendor, starting from 3rd December 2024. This coincides with the overworld seasonal changes as snow has appeared in-game, and so too has Holiday-themed decorations brighten up Kilima Village in every corner, nook, and cranny.

New Palians will have the opportunity to complete the season event quest, Winterlights Wonder; however, for returning Villagers, there aren't any seasonal quests to complete. Nevertheless, the change of season saw the return of the Winterlights Store, which was located outside of Zeki's General Store, with new and returning items and blueprints to acquire.

However, one such item, the Jolly Ormuu Rug blueprint, is locked behind a specific requirement that tasks them with unlocking the Winterlights Gift Sleuth Accomplishment. This Accomplishment can be unlocked by finding seven Winterlights Treasure Chests in the Kilima Village overworld; they'll receive a letter from Zeki in their Mailbox but can read the note beside Zeki's Wondrous Machine.

Reading provides them seven clues to seven locations of where these chests can be found, and we've done the huntin' for Palians, so read below for the clues and their exact found locations in Palia:

• Winterlights Treasure Chest #1:
  • Clue: "One's sneakin' 'round gettin' drinks at the Inn."
  • Location: The first Winterlights chest is located near the Storeroom entrance in the basement of Ormuu's Horn Inn. Look towards the waterway, where numerous crates can be spotted to its right, and the chest can be found here.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #2:
  • Clue: "Two's buried 'neath snow, a gazebo and trim."
  • Location: The second Winterlights chest location is the same as last year's Winterlights chest mini-event, as Palians must locate the large gazebo across from the barn by the Kilima Central Stables Fast Travel Board, where the chest is buried beneath a snow mound.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #3:
  • Clue: "Three's near ancient ruins, hidden by the Night Sky."
  • Location: Head to Leafhopper Hills west of Kilima Village Square and travel to the Night Sky Temple. As they approach the temple's entrance, the third chest is to the right of the temple door.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #4:
  • Clue: "Four's by my house, check somewhere real high."
  • Location: Another location from last year's Winterlights Treasure Chest hunt, but with a slight twist as they mustfind Zeki's home just outside the village, north of Kilima Village Library. This time, look for the water tower by climbing the cliff behind Zeki's home and glide to the water tower where the chest can be found.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #5:
  • Clue: "Five's balanced precariously under a bridge."
  • Location: The fifth Winterlights chest location is a little tricky as it's hidden away from sight. Travel to Gillyfin Cove and look for the collapsed bridge where they can gently move to the edge, look down where they can see the chest, and slowly move off to land on the scaffolding to loot it!
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #6:
  • Clue: "Six's rememberin' loved ones up on a ridge."
  • Location: Head to Remembrance Beach and move along the outcropping going in an eastern direction where they can look down onto the cliff below where the sixth chest can be seen.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #7:
  • Clue: "Seven's the last, and it's no easy feat, check by Phoenix Falls if you don't want defeat!"
  • Location: The last chest is all the way to Phoenix Falls, where they must find the waterfall to the west of its entrance. To the left of the waterfall is an alcove protruding from the mountain where the final Winterlights chest can be found, and they'll need to climb to reach it.

Palia Winterlights 2023 Treasure Chest Locations:

The v0.174 patch update notes detailed that a particular Grimalkin called "Sandy Paws' has decided to join the Winterlights festivities by seasonal-themed Treasure Chests throughout Kilima Village. This is described in a letter sent by Zeki, where he provides players with clues as to the locations of these chests.

Players who have yet to begin this treasure-hunting feat may be stumped on some locations as some are more obvious than the rest. Nevertheless, for players who are looking to find all the Winterlights Treasure Chests and find what gifts have been left behind by "Sandy Paws," we've provided all the locations of where to find them along with the clues provided in the letter from Zeki:

• Winterlights Treasure Chest #1:
  • Clue: One is having a barrel of laughs at the inn.
  • Location: At Ormuu's Horn Inn, head up to the room where Ashura does his morning stretches, jump to the left from the window onto the roof, and drop down on the barrel in front of the inn.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #2:
  • Clue: Two is milling about in the wind near my house.
  • Location: Locate Zeki's home just outside the village, north of the library, and look for the windmill on his plot where the chest is found beneath it.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #3:
  • Clue: Three is under a bridge near a watery ridge.
  • Location: From Mirror Ponds, locate the bridge between Hekkla's tent and the Night Sky Temple near a waterfall and look under the bridge for the chest.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #4:
  • Clue: Four is a-watching the Ormuu clip-clopping.
  • Location: Head to the Daiyaa Family Farm at Leafhopper Hills and look for the gazebo in the right corner of the Ormuu Pen near the barn, where you'll need to jump to collect the chest.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #5:
  • Clue: Five is watching the boathouse from a cliff up high.
  • Location: Find the cliff behind the Leafhopper Hills Fast Travel Board and look for the ridge that overlooks the boathouse near Remembrance Beach/Garden.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #6:
  • Clue: Six is teetering close to a watery swim.
  • Location: In the vicinity of the fifth chest location, head west (their left side) and look for the dock where the chest is seen.
• Winterlights Treasure Chest #7:
  • Clue: Seven is in a big pile – find it and win!
  • Location: Return to Kilima Village and locate the large gazebo across from the barn by the Kilima Central Stables Fast Travel Board, where the final chest is beside a Winterlights Tree.

Collecting every chest will award Palians with 150 Gold, totaling 1,050 Gold, ten Winterlights Snowballs, totaling 70 snowballs overall, and a Winterlights Gift Bag, seven in total, as rewards. Additionally, this meets the requirement to complete the Winterlights Gift Sleuth Accomplishment, which awards them with 15 Renown and makes the Jolly Ormuu Rug blueprint available to purchase from the Winterlights Store.
