Treasure Chests are unique collectibles Palia players can find through exploration of Kilima Village and Bahari Bay. They must find various ways to reach nooks, crannies, and previously inaccessible areas by climbing, gliding, and jumping to successfully attain a Treasure Chest and add to their growing collection.
These Treasure Chests will always contain various loot, including Gold, resources, Furnishing items, blueprints, and recipes, but what can one do or use these chests? We’ve looked to our Treasure maps to help players with ways to best use the Treasure Chests collected in Palia.
What Can Treasure Chests Be Used For In Palia?
One of the most popular search queries across multiple search engines is what players can do with Treasure Chests in Palia. Treasure Chests come in different types: the Ancient, Pirate, and Standard Treasure Chests, which all have multiple rarities: Uncommon, Rare, and Epic.
The latter is denoted by the detailing color, with Uncommon being Copper, Rare being Iron or Silver, and Epic being Gold. These chests can be found mainly through exploration, which requires players to climb, glide, or jump over obstacles to successfully nab a chest to keep along with the loot contained inside.
As for how they can be used, unfortunately, they cannot be customized through the Modification Bench, which allows players to modify or alter a Furnishing item's appearance using Modification Kits. Instead, they can be used to decorate their homes, whether to display their trophies, place lamps and candles atop them, or serve as a side table.
They're also a great way to place aquariums and terrariums atop these chests to proudly showcase the Star-Quality fish and bugs caught in the wild. Some players have revealed they're using these chests to build walls and staircases on their Housing plot or to access secret locations that have yet to be unlocked in future patch updates.
Another way these Treasure Chests can be used is through the Gifting mechanic, which players can give to a Villager daily. It's been confirmed that the Furniture-Making Guild Master, Tish, loves receiving chests as a gift, which can significantly increase their Friendship and Romance levels with her and unlock associated quests for her.
It's worth adding that the Waterlogged and Winterlights Chests are closely related to these Treasure Chests as the Waterlogged Chests can only be fished from lakes, ponds, and rivers to obtain items from the Makeshift Furnishing set. Winterlights Chests contain Winterlights decorations when completing Zeki's Winterfest Challenge, which can be triggered when visiting his General Store.
Remember that collecting Treasure Chests in Palia is related to two Achievements or Accomplishments: the Kilima Caches and Plundering the Bay. Not only do players obtain chests and the loot hidden within these chests, but completing these Accomplishments awards them with 30 and 50 Renown, respectively, and earn the Kilima Village and Bahari Bay World Maps as Furnishing items.
Palia is currently available via the Epic Games Store and in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is now available to download for Nintendo Switch as of 14th December 2023.
