Palia’s v0.173 patch update may be packed with plenty of exciting content to enjoy, but developer Singularity 6 has new and improved features, like the Tool Wheel. Prior to the update’s release, the Tool Wheel was rather clunky for mouse and keyboard users, and as part of their ongoing work for Controller Support, it was given a new coat of paint.
This newly improved feature makes it easier for players to equip and unequip the tools required for the tasks at hand. Players looking to learn how to equip and unequip tools using a controller or mouse and keyboard can find out in this guide for Palia.
How To Equip And Unequip Tools In Palia?
The v0.173 patch update added plenty of new content, including a new main questline, a new Villager NPC to befriend, a new Furnishing set, and plenty of delicious recipes to obtain. Developer Singularity 6 has also included new Quality-of-Life (QoL) adjustments to the game, which included an improved in-game feature, the Tool Wheel.
According to the official patch notes, the Tool Wheel was included as part of the team’s ongoing work for Controller Support, which is partially supported in-game. Previously, the Tool Wheel was more user-friendly for players using a mouse and keyboard, but its functionality wasn’t designed for Controller Support, especially when selecting a tool using the analog stick.
The adjusted functionality of the Tool Wheel has been greatly improved with this thought in mind, which will apply to the Emote Wheel arriving in a later update for the game. This new improvement now makes it possible for players using controllers or mouse and keyboard to access the Tool Wheel and equip or unequip tools much faster and more accessible to all players.
Players looking to equip a tool can achieve this by pressing the R key and scrolling through all available tools, like the Gardening Till. To unequip a tool, hit the R key once again and scroll through to either change to a different tool by selecting it or clicking on the center icon to unequip completely.
To achieve this same action using Controller Support, players can tap and hold the R2 or Left Trigger on their PlayStation or Xbox controller and use the right analog stick to scroll to the tool needed. They can repeat this process and scroll to the center tool to unequip a tool or select another tool to use instead.
Palia is currently available via the Epic Games Store and in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is now available to download for Nintendo Switch as of 14th December 2023.
