New Overwatch 2 Lore Teased To Arrive After Venture's Release

Looking ahead to the future of Overwatch 2, there's much to anticipate, including the introduction of new heroes like Venture in Season 10, as well as forthcoming maps and game modes. However, amidst these developments, the rich lore that interconnects the world of Overwatch 2 is often overshadowed. Nevertheless, it appears that we can anticipate even more extensive narrative content in the days to come.

In a recent interview with the Overwatch Director, it was revealed that a plethora of new lore is in the pipeline following the launch of Venture. Needless to say, this prospect is met with great excitement. New Overwatch 2 Lore Teased To Arrive After Venture's Release

During a recent interview with prominent Overwatch streamer Flats, Overwatch’s Director, Aaron Keller, was asked about the future of the Overwatch lore and what we might expect as we reach Season 10 and beyond. He responded by stating “We’ve got this cute, little unique piece that we’re doing for Venture right now and it’s pretty different than things that we’ve done before… I think that we’re starting to experiment with some stuff like that.”

He didn't go into more detail about what this means exactly regarding the lore surrounding Venture and what this "unique piece" will be narratively speaking, but he went on to mention more about the overall lore of the game. He states "We’ve got some upcoming comics coming out. And then beyond that on a much bigger side, for an animated short, it’s a little too early to talk about concrete details there. But we love making those.”

So it appears that the developers and the producers over at Blizzard are quite keen on doing more of the lore-focused content additions to the game such as comics, animated shorts (like the recently released one for Mauga in Season 8) as well as short stories. 

Even the recent addition of the Story Missions indicates that the devs are committed to telling us more about the world of Overwatch 2 and giving us more insight into the heroes that live in it.

We think the combination of both the narrative aspects and the technical gameplay aspects of Overwatch 2 is what makes the game so appealing, especially to new players.
