Is The Anniversary Event Coming To Overwatch 2?

UPDATE - In recent news, Blizzard's Overwatch 2 Roadmap has confirmed that the Anniversary event is indeed coming to Overwatch 2. The Anniversary Event has been a celebration of Overwatch over the years and it usually brings back events that were done during the year. It seems like Blizzard is bringing this traditional event back for Overwatch 2. We also now know that the Anniversary Event will begin on September 19th.

At the moment, we do not have any additional information about what the Anniversary Event will look like in Overwatch 2. Will it call back to the original game and bring back even older game modes to Overwatch 2? Or will it just focus on Overwatch 2 and the content that was released during this game's lifespan? Will it be something completely different? We will have to wait to find out.

Overwatch 2 Anniversary Event Start Time

UPDATE - The Overwatch 2 Roadmap has confirmed that the Anniversary event is coming in Season 6. We also have full confirmation on when the event will start. The Overwatch 2 Anniversary event will begin on September 19th.

[Original Story Follows] - Right now, it is a bit unclear when the Anniversary Event for Overwatch 2 will start. Traditionally, the Overwatch event start would be around May 24th, which is the release date for Overwatch. However, things are a bit different this time around and it is possible that a new start date for the Anniversary Event could happen.

Depending on how Blizzard wants to play this, the Anniversary Event could happen around October 4th, the launch date for Overwatch 2. It could be a reset on the Anniversary event and the event could focus on the last year of Overwatch 2 instead of the past 7 for Overwatch. The main reason why this might not happen is that it would run so close to the Halloween event.

What Happens During The Overwatch 2 Anniversary Event?

There are a lot of things that happen during the Anniversary event. In the past, the Anniversary event was hailed as a celebration of another year for Overwatch. What Blizzard, has done in the past, is that during the event, other event special modes would come back. Modes like Lucio Ball, Junkenstein event, and so much more.

That is why the Anniversary event for Overwatch 2 could be so interesting. This next Anniversary event could bring back game modes that have not yet been introduced yet in Overwatch 2.
