Acquire and Square Enix’s upcoming JRPG release, Octopath Traveler 2, will bring Solistia to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, and PC. Unfortunately, Xbox owners will be missing out as the developer hasn’t made any plans to bring the game to the Xbox consoles post-launch thus far.
The biggest question ahead of the game’s launch is if it will be compatible with the Steam Deck handheld console. We’ll discuss if Octopath Traveler 2 is verified or at least playable on the Steam Deck.
Is Octopath Traveler 2 Verified For The Steam Deck?
Players looking to experience the world of Solistia on Steam Deck can happily get the game as it has been verified for the handheld console, according to publisher Square Enix. With a free demo, Octopath Traveler 2 Prologue, available to download, you can play the first three hours of the game with any of the eight characters available.
Additionally, if you pre-order the game, you can receive a pre-order bonus, Travel Provisions, a handy pack that includes Healing Grape, Inspiriting Plum, Revitalizing Jam, and Gold Dust (the latter can be sold in-game). Likewise, the entire provisions pack can also be sold, as this will be available when the game launches.
Those who progress with the Octopath Traveler 2 Prologue Demo can carry over their game progress when the full game becomes available. However, for this to work, you must have purchased the full game for the demo progress to be readily available for you to continue your adventures.
Should you run into some performance issues with running the game on your Steam deck, one Redditor has explained the various settings to tweak for the Steam deck and the game. These settings will improve the game’s “framerate and visual performance,” which can significantly contribute to its overall gameplay experience.
Below are the recommended settings to improve the performance of Octopath Traveler 2 on the Steam Deck:
Steam Deck Settings:
- Framerate Limit: Uncapped
- Refresh Rate: 60 FPS
- Thermal Power (TDP) Limit: 9W
- Compatibility Tool: GE-Proton7-49
