As you explore the stars and planets in No Man's Sky, you'll discover various types of resources. However, the game allocates your very minimum inventory storage space on your starship, which is obviously not enough to store all the resources and exotic artifacts you discover along the way.
But worry not, as we have found some truly ingenious methods to increase your starship's storage beyond its maximum capacity. Below we've got all the information you need to know to increase your starship's storage space in No Man's Sky. So without any further ado, let's dive deep into the details.
How to Increase Starship Inventory Space in No Man's Sky
To get started, you'll need a decent amount of units (anything over 10 million should suffice) and a lot of time. The ship scrap method is a popular way of increasing your storage space. Essentially, you'll be purchasing ships as they come in and then scrapping them through the ship scrapper.
Once you have enough units, head to the nearest space station and wait for ships to fly in. You'll want to look for cheaper ships like shuttles or explorers, which you can find in S-class for a relatively affordable price (around 1-2 million units). When you find a ship you want, make an offer and negotiate to buy it. Be sure to have a slot available for the ship or a ship you don't want anymore in the game.
After purchasing the ship, scrap it for the upgrade modules and storage augmentations. You won't get back the units you spent on the ship, but you'll get the scrap worth, which you can turn around and sell. Depending on the class of the ship you purchase, you'll get different amounts of storage augmentations which you can use to increase the storage space.
S-class ships guarantee at least one augmentation, while A-class ships have a high chance of giving you one. However, it's worth noting that B and C-class ships rarely provide these augmentations. So we recommend avoiding them.
One way to speed up the process is to look for a first-wave exotic on the No Man's Sky coordinate exchange. This way, you can buy the ship, scrap it, reload, and repeat the process to max out your storage in a relatively short amount of time. However, if you prefer to find your own ships, remember that it may take longer since you're relying on RNG to give you the right class of ship.
Once you've collected enough upgrade modules and storage augmentations, you can upgrade your starship and apply the augmentations. After that, you'll notice a major increase in your Straship's storage inventory space. If you have a hauler, you can add an additional 21 slots to your cargo. Keep in mind that you won't be able to get max storage slots without an S-class ship.
That concludes our guide on how to increase your starship's storage space in No Man's Sky.
