Nintendo launched its online membership subscription, Switch Online, for the Switch console in 2018. Since then, the subscription has undergone significant changes, with plenty of new features, rewards, and games for members to enjoy.
The Switch Online subscription is currently available in two tiers with two unique plans, but if players aren't ready to commit to any plan, a free trial is available. Nintendo recently announced that it will allow players to retry the Switch Online subscription in a new free trial offering.
According to its latest announcement post, players can now retry the Nintendo Switch Online subscription for "another free 7-day trial"; however, it only applies to its Individual Membership. As such, those who do retry the Nintendo Switch Online free seven-day trial will gain access to multiple gameplay features like online play and cloud saves, access to over 100 NES, SNES, and Game Boy games, and unlocking plenty of rewards and exclusive offers with Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers.
Likewise, they can also utilize additional features like voice chat through the dedicated Switch Online smartphone app for supported games like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app can be installed from the Google Play Store and App Store for iOS devices.
Additionally, those taking the free trial must note that it will convert to a one-month "auto-renewing membership at the then-current price unless automatic renewal is turned off by the end of the free trial." It's also important to remember that players cannot redeem this free trial to the Expansion Pack membership or already have "an active Individual Membership or Family Membership."
Lastly, regarding Switch Online, Nintendo has added new free profile icon rewards available to claim that are themed after the Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels game. Similarly, they also added a few more games to the current library for the Switch Online, including five Game Boy Mega Man games, Metroid Zero Mission, Perfect Dark, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Four Swords.
