How To Get More Jade Slots In Nine Sols

Nine Sols draws significant inspiration from various game genres, blending elements from the Souls series—especially Sekiro’s parry system—with Metroidvania platformers, with Hollow Knight being a notable comparison. Similar to Hollow Knight, Nine Sols allows the protagonist, Yi, to gain special passive buffs through items known as Jade upgrades.

While these upgrades are useful, you can only equip a limited number based on the Jade Slots available. Fortunately, you can increase the number of Jade Slots you have. 

How To Increase Your Jade Slots With Computing Units

Similar to other Metroidvanias that require finding or purchasing items to enhance your abilities, Nine Sols follows this tradition by requiring you to find or buy Computing Units to increase your Jade Slots. These Computing Units are occasionally found randomly throughout the world, though they are most commonly purchased from merchants you encounter.

One such merchant you can find early in the game is Chiyou. To reach Chiyou, take the elevator on the far left of the Central Transport Hub. Chiyou will sell you a Computing Unit for 1000 Jin. By this point in the game, you should have close to that amount if you haven't lost your Jin to previous enemies.

If you're running low on Jin, you can use the 3D Recycle Machine in the hub area (The Pavilion) to convert scrap Components into Jin for your purchasing needs. Acquiring this extra Computing Unit early on is extremely valuable, as it allows you to equip a 2-slot and a 1-slot Jade Stone simultaneously (your base 2 slots plus the additional slot from Chiyou). This setup will make the early game area slightly less challenging for newcomers.

If you have any remaining Jin, you can also purchase other Jade Stones from Chiyou, many of which significantly enhance your survivability. As you progress through the game, you will find more Computing Unitsto further increase your Jade capacity, so keep an eye out for secret areas or other merchants who sell them.

With these Jade Stones equipped, you'll be better prepared to tackle upcoming bosses. While they may still pose a challenge, the extra Jade buffs will be a valuable asset in tough fights. Good luck!
