Nine Sols is a highly challenging game that demands skillful positioning, precise timing, mastering enemy attack patterns, and even platforming in certain sections. While you can boost your strength to overcome specific obstacles, another crucial aspect of surviving the game is enhancing your health and healing abilities.
Increasing your health lets you withstand more damage before dying, giving you more chances to counterattack. Improving your healing abilities means using fewer healing pipes while recovering more health with each use. So in this guide, we'll explain how to boost your overall health and healing capabilities in Nine Sols.
Nine Sols Health And Healing Overview
In Nine Sols, there are two main areas to focus on for improving your healing: increasing your total health (i.e., the length of your health bar) and enhancing your healing items and abilities (your Healing Pipes and amount of health restored, respectively). Here’s a detailed breakdown of how to improve each of these aspects as you play.
How to Get More Health in Nine Sols
To boost your health in Nine Sols, you need to increase the actual length of your health bar. This will directly impact how much damage you can take before you need to heal or die. The primary method for increasing this health bar is by obtaining Medicinal Brews.
To get Medicinal Brews, you must progress through the game until you defeat General Yingzhao. This victory grants you the skills needed to access the next area, where you will encounter Shennong. Before reaching Goumang, you’ll find Shennong as you explore the area.
To gain Shennong's assistance, you’ll need to give him something poisonous to heal him, as explained in the dialogue. Any poison you have collected on your journey will work, or you can find some in the next room to the right, which contains harmful red spikes and green Yinglong Orbs. After giving him a poisonous item, Shennong will brew a Medicinal Brew for you, which will increase your health by about half a notch.
After this, Shennong will return to the Four Pavilions, where you can get a Medicinal Brew for every two poisonous items you provide him. If you’re wondering where to find these poisonous items, they can be purchased from Chiyou or found in the wild.
How to Get More Healing in Nine Sols
Now, let’s discuss the larger health pool and healing resources available through the Healing Pipes, indicated above your health bar. These work similarly to Estus Flasks from the Dark Souls series. You can use a Healing Pipe to restore a portion of your health, but once they are depleted, they can only be refilled by resting at a node or dying.
To increase the number of Healing Pipes you have, purchase Pipe Vials from the 3D printer in the Four Pavilions. Each Pipe Vial costs 1,000 Yin, with the cost increasing incrementally as you buy more.
To enhance the effectiveness of your Healing Pipes, you need to upgrade the Pipe itself. After defeating General Yingzhao and speaking with Kuafu, he will return to the Four Pavilions and become a vendor in the top left corner of the hub. To upgrade your Pipe Vials, you’ll need specific items called Herb Catalysts, which you can find as rewards for defeating bosses or in chests throughout the world.
At this point in the game, you’ve likely encountered at least one Herb Catalyst (from General Yingzhao). You can use any Herb Catalysts you find to increase the healing done by each Healing Pipe, with each upgrade costing 800 Jin (without increasing costs).
This detailed guide should help you understand how to increase both your overall health and healing abilities in Nine Sols. This information will be crucial as you face more powerful enemies later in the game, so make sure you’re well-prepared and equipped for the challenges ahead.
