Does Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl have rollback netcode?

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is set to release on 5th October across all major consoles available right now, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

With such a hyped-up fighting game set to take the FGC by storm, with a plethora of premier-level and casual players showing an interest in the platform fighter, many have wondered whether Nick All-Star Brawl will feature rollback netcode, especially during a time where the COVID-19 pandemic rages on.

A smooth online experience is just as crucial as gameplay mechanics and features a nice, interesting roster, with many titles falling by the wayside due to their obsolete netplay functionalities.

Well, there's good news for those looking to dive into Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's online mode, as the developers have confirmed the game will feature rollback netcode on all "supported platforms."

As it stands, we don't know the specifics, but it's speculated the Nintendo Switch version will only feature rollback netcode on 1v1 matches.

In essence, rollback netcode is used to simulate or predict inputs during a match, making the experience feel seamless online, even when there is a slight delay. This is a crucial aspect of fighting games as they often require very precise timings.

What this means is that players can experience a match as if they were in an offline environment. If the inputs don't match up, the game will roll back the frames to make them match.

If you're playing with someone on high ping, this can cause massive issues, but in general, rollback is preferred over delay-based netcode.
