Are Characters From The Goonies Coming To MultiVersus?

Warner Bros. Entertainment's popular free-to-play fighting game MultiVersus boasts a diverse roster of playable characters, ranging from the recently introduced crazed scientist Rick Sanchez from Justin Roiland's animated show Rick & Morty to Gizmo and Stripe from Gremlins.

More recently, a well-known MultiVersus dataminer shared newly discovered game code referencing characters from the 1985 adventure-comedy film The Goonies. Following this discovery, many fans wonder if Sloth or the rest of The Goonies gang could be making their way to the MultiVersus character roster.

MultiVersus Dataminers Find References To The Goonies In Game Code

According to a 23 October 2022 Twitter post by dataminer Susie, a string of Character Universe code referencing The Goonies was found on the MultiVersus Hub server, suggesting "there might be a chance that Sloth or any of the Goonies characters could come to MultiVersus soon."

"For now, I’d say take it with a grain of salt [...] as there isn't much [information] about them, likewise many future fighters," Susie cautioned. According to the images included in the Tweet, it seems like the leak originated from an undisclosed Discord server via user "Stupid Sexy Flanders."

Accordingly, the user wrote, "While I was snooping through MultiVersus' exe code trying and failing to find" a way to fix modding, I accidentally stumbled upon this string referencing Goonies." The user continued, "This string was not present in the September 12 version's exe," adding that they weren't sure how recently the code was added.

"But this should be confirmation of a character from [The] Goonies joining [MultiVersus] at some point in the future," they concluded. Unfortunately, the included screenshot of the Character Universe code didn't identify any characters from The Goonies in particular; however, that won't stop us from at least guessing.

Among the more notable characters from The Goonies, which in my view would be epic for inclusion in the MultiVersus playable characters roster, would be Sloth (played by John Matuszak) -- I mean, duh! -- and then Mikey (Sean Astin), Data (Johnathan Ke Huy Quan), and Chunk (Jeff Cohen), to name a few.
