Mirthwood's PC launch has officially been delayed from its September release to November 2024 as developer Bad Ridge Games continues working on core game features like localization and performance optimizations. While some of its content plans have been changed to be included at launch, future content and gameplay additions are still slated for its scheduled release window, including an important gaming tool.
This was first revealed in the original roadmap plans, which are still on track for its intended release in 2025. This informative guide outlined whether there will be mods and modding tools post-launch and additional information on modding for Mirthwood.
Will There Be PC Modding Support For Mirthwood?
Mirthwood's developer announced the game will be delayed, pushing its initial release from 11th September 2024 to 6th November 2024. The news was shared on the game's Steam News page, where a reworked roadmap was posted to the game's Discord server, only highlighting content and features arriving in November and December 2024 and 2025.
With hotfixes and two game updates planned for Mirthwood, one specific update, "The Baby Boom," which releases in 2025, adds an important gameplay feature allowing players to enhance their in-game experiences. According to the information supplied in the revised Development Roadmap, PC modding support is arriving to Mirthwood; however, players will have to wait until Q1 2025 to access it.
As detailed in a developer post on the game's Steam News page, the studio aims "to work with modders to provide them with the tools and support needed to create fun new experiences for us all." These include various in-game modding tools, support to run and host mods, and more for modders to create unique content like quests, events, new NPC dialogue, and interactions, just to name.
As of writing, we cannot confirm a release date for "The Baby Boom" update for Mirthwood other than its scheduled release window of Q1 2025 (between January and March 2025). Alongside the release of PC mod support, the update also adds more seasonal content, funeral events, and Quality-of-Life improvements for the Marriage and Children/Legacy systems.
It's unclear whether the PC mod support for Mirthwood is available in-game or as a separate application for modders to download from Steam and what the installation process would be in the latter's case. Additionally, we're unsure if the dedicated mod support will have a manager to make accessing created mods more accessible and browsing much more simplified for players looking to search for the latest and popular mods.
Currently, there aren't pre-existing mods available on the popular gaming mods and UCC website Nexus Mods, despite a demo available via Steam. Likewise, the developer has confirmed that Beta weekends are being planned for the coming weeks; however, dates and times have yet to be announced for when players can join the official Discord server for the latest news and updates.
