Captain America Steps Into The Gladiator Arena With Latest Character Skin For Marvel Rivals

Day 17 of the global countdown spotlighted Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, and it's no coincidence that the next day, his best friend, rival, and close confidant, Steve Rogers / Captain America, was featured. Both were announced as playable characters in August 2024, coinciding with the game's official release date of 6th December 2024 for consoles and PCs.

As we're 18 days into this global countdown, developer NetEase Games revealed the latest Rivals Assemble video for Captain America and a daily news announcement on 20th November 2024. This announcement featured a new cosmetic skin for Cap in full regalia as he faces one of his toughest challenges and contenders across all Marvel media.

Steve Rogers / Captain America is the featured character for the day's global countdown as this heroic Vanguard classed character received an accompanying Rivals Assemble video and a cosmetic skin reveal. Cap has had plenty of appearances across comics, video games, and projects from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which we had hoped the skin would lift from the MCU.

But, fans were treated to something even more epic, as Cap embodies "a battle-worn gladiator," his latest cosmetic skin is based on his appearance in one of The Hulk's most popular comic series. The Captain America Captain Gladiator skin is based on Cap's appearance in Planet Hulk (2015) #1, where Cap also had Devil Dinosaur along for the journey.

As we've stated in previous related announcements, there's no clear indication as to how players will be able to acquire this "battle-worn" cosmetic skin for Cap, but there are a few possibilities, including the in-game Store, the seasonal Battle Pass and, as a reward for completing Galacta's Quest missions. Either way, we'll update this page with an official confirmation as we fast approach the global launch of Marvel Rivals in December 2024.
