Lil Nas X Joins Riot Games As President Of League Of Legends

Riot Games have continuously amazed League of Legends fans, debuting a new hit World Championship anthem every year. But the most significant record hit yet, goes way back to 2017 when the publisher and development company partnered with Against The Current and Chrissy Constanza to launch the catchy, hip song, “Legends Never Die.”

For this year’s League of Legends World Championship (Worlds 2022), Riot Games partnered with award-winning rapper Lil Nas X to develop another anthem worthy of the prestigious tournament. Accordingly, Riot Games unveiled its official Worlds 2022 anthem singer, Lil Nas X as the company’s “president,” including teasers of the debuting song, "Star Walkin’."

Riot Games Reveals Lil Nas X As Official Worlds 2022 Singer

With the announcement, Riot Games have appointed Lil Nas X as its “President of League of Legends.”

This role will see the genre-defying singer responsible for creating explosive musical moments, an ingenious League of Legends champion skin, and a spectacular live Worlds 2022 performance for the millions of fans watching.

The singer’s first business order as President will be to kick off Worlds with the highly anticipated annual musical anthem, performed by Lil Nas X, Star Walkin’.

The anthem will debut on 23rd September before Worlds 2022 on 29th September in Mexico City. Feel free to save the song on Spotify or Apple Music to be alerted of its debut.

Lil Nas X will also perform Star Walkin’ at Worlds 2022 during the event’s Opening Ceremony leading into the World Final at the Chase Center in San Francisco on 5th November 2022.

In a press release, Lil Nas X expressed his excitement to “take on the world of gaming.”

The singer said, “I felt like it was time for me to try something new. I’ve left my mark on pop culture in so many ways, and now it’s time to take on the world of gaming."

Lil Nas X added, "I will be the greatest President of League of Legends of all time. Also, I’m going to make the best Worlds anthem of all time and put on the biggest, coolest, sexiest Worlds in the history of all Worlds!” 

Subsequently, Lil Nas X and Riot Games will release a first-of-its-kind co-designed League in-game cosmetic called “Prestige Empyrean K’Sante” for a brand new League Champion releasing in the following months named “K’Sante the Pride of Nazumah.”

Riot Games will release the skin on 3rd November, and it will be unlockable for players by 14th November 2022. So feel free to bookmark Star Walkin’ and tune into Lil Nas X’s performance at Worlds 2022.

Although no official release dates for the upcoming Champion, K’Sante the Pride of Nazumah, has been unveiled yet, League of Legends players can expect it around the same time the Prestige skin will be released.
