League of Legends MSI 2022 - Dates, location, teams, and more

The League of Legends 2022 Mid-Season Invitational held by Riot Games is just around the corner with all the participants confirmed. The 2022 MSI will bring together the top 11 LoL teams in the world to compete.

The 2022 MSI will be split into three sections until there is only one team left standing as the champion. Teams will be competing for a prize pool of $250,000.

LoL MSI 2022 - Dates and Locations

Fans can start watching the first matches of the LoL MSI 2022 on May 10th. The event will be three stages that span over multiple days.

The MSI 2022 will take place in Busan, South Korea at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center and will host a live audience. Fans watching online can view the competition live on the official website, YouTube and Twitch.

Players will be able to tune into the action on the following days.

• Group Stage - May 10th through 15th
• Rumble Stage - May 18th through 22nd
• Knockout Stage - May 27th through 29th

The teams that won in their respective spring playoffs have made it to the MSI 2022. Here's the full list of squads you can expect to see when the action kicks off:

• PSG Talons - Southeast Asia (PCS)
• Saigon Buffalo - Vietnam (VCS)
• Team Aze - Latin America (LLA)
• Istanbul Wildcats - Turkey (TCL)
• RED Canids - Brazil (CBLOL)
• DetonatioN FocusMe - Japan (LJL)
• Order - Oceania (LCO)

It's worth noting the Chinese team RNG will be participating online due to lockdown restrictions. There is also no team from the LCL because the 2022 LCL Spring Split was canceled.

LoL MSI 2022 - Event Format

There will be three stages to the MSI 2022 that will eliminate teams down until there is a single champion. The Group Stage places the teams into four separate groups where they will compete in a double-round robin best-of-one format to determine two teams to move one.

In the second stage or the Rumble Stage, the remaining 6 teams play each other twice in best-of-one games. The four top teams move onto the final stage.

During the Knockout Stage, the teams compete in a best-of-five sequence where the top two teams will play through another best-of-five to determine the champion team.
