When Hunt: Showdown 1896's Post Malone Murder Circus event and the 2.2 update were announced to be released on the same day, I was anxious. The community had grown more critical of the devs, and I wanted this to succeed. Thankfully, both have been well-received, which could mark the start of a brighter future for the game.
Hunt: Showdown 1896's Latest Event And 2.2 Update Receive Mostly Positive Reception
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Hunt: Showdown has just released its largest wave of content ever (though feel free to correct me if I’m wrong), with both the Post Malone Murder Circus event, bringing tons of new content like enemies, AI, and rewards, and the 2.2 update, which introduced a slew of new features, fixes, and the return of the Lawson Delta map.
Events looking good!

With such a massive event that had all eyes on it, the developers at Crytek had a lot to live up to, and based on player responses, it seems they’ve mostly met the mark. Players over on Reddit have been sharing their positive feedback about the new event, expressing their satisfaction with these two massive updates.
"There is so much negative stuff on here, but it honestly seems like a pretty good improvement to me. Only got to play 3 games this afternoon, but this event is already more fun than I expected. I’m excited to play it again when I get off work," says one player. Another adds, "The game and UI runs smoothly for me. Game as well. I like the trait system with the events. And the new bear AI is cool as shit & the fights around the circus are amazing."

Of course, not everyone was completely sold. Some players had concerns, particularly with the faster pace of the game due to the newly added weapons and traits. As one user put it, "I like new stuff, no matter what it is. What I don’t like is the faster-paced, more arcade-y vibe nowadays," which is true, as both Clash mode and the new updates lean into a quicker gameplay loop.
However, the original Bounty Hunt mode still feels pretty slow-paced in my opinion, and I think players could debate that for years. The one negative aspect I do agree with is the performance still not being quite up to scratch. One player noticed that certain structures on Lawson Delta disappear when in range, and I had a similar experience where textures would pop in and out of view at certain distances.
Of course, this was expected. Hunt is a massive game, and updating it consistently while getting everything just right is likely impossible, which explains the mostly positive reviews. But with so many fixes, so much new content to enjoy, and the majority of it working smoothly, Crytek has done a great job overall. Congrats to the team for dropping a banger of an update and event to close out the year, giving us all a brighter future for Hunt: Showdown 1896.
