Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick mentioned GTA 7 in a recent interview, but don't hold your breath for any details.

Only recently did we learn about a "Fall 2025" release date window for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), thanks to Take-Two Interactive's financial report. This means there's a 12-year gap between GTA 5 and GTA 6, so is anyone really even thinking about GTA 7 just yet?

Well, apparently, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, is, at least in a sense. Yes, Strauss Zelnick has officially mentioned GTA 7!

An interview took place at the TD Cowen 52nd Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference recently, and thanks to RockstarIntel, we've got a few details to share.

During the interview, the host at the event asked Strauss Zelnick: "If you look out, I know we’re not even at GTA VI yet, but thinking about…" and at this point, Mr Zelnick just said, "GTA 7?"

That's the first official mention of GTA 7 ever! According to the report, Mr Zelnick said it jokingly. If Rockstar continues at the current rate of game releases, however, the joke might be on us. According to the GTA 6 Countdown X handle, GTA 7 should then take 24 years to make and get released in 2049 (that's obviously a bit of a tease/joke.)

Mr Zelnick went on to explain the 12-year gap between GTA 5 and GTA 6 and that GTA 6 did not take 12 years to make.

It is important to bear in mind that it’s not like Rockstar put out GTA V and sat on their hands for 12 years, right?

We launched GTA Online that’s turned into a massive, living, breathing ecosystem which continues to perform and grow to this day. So the label totally transformed from a label that made big, standalone, monolithic, games (…) to a label that’s now in the live services business.

I do think, given the scale of that label, it’s a huge company itself, and there isn’t much more to be done. This isn’t a situation where it is 12 years of girth of product, there are 12 years where Rockstar has been putting out a mass amount of content. And another little title called Red Dead.

In case you've somehow missed it, check out the official GTA 6 trailer below, and remember not to get hyped for GTA 7 just yet; it might be a decade or more away.
