One of the top questions in the video game industry today is “when will Grand Theft Auto 6 be released?” It’s been 8 years since the famed GTA V came out and while it’s seen a steady influx of content through GTA Online, fans are dying for a new map, story and characters. Developer Rockstar Games has been expectedly silent but that doesn’t apply to music icon Snoop Dogg.
In a recent interview with the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, Snoop Dogg stated that fellow icon and friend Dr. Dre is working on music for “the GTA video game.” Of course, Snoop Dogg didn’t go into any detail about what game this could be for but fans immediately assumed that Dr. Dre was working on some radio tracks for GTA 6.
Snoop Dogg states Dr. Dre is working on music for GTA
In the podcast, Snoop Dogg claims that Dr. Dre has been in the studio recently. He went into further detail about this, stating that his friend is “making great f**** music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out.”
Snoop Dogg doubled down on this statement by saying that Dr. Dre’s music will be released through the GTA game. Obviously, this was previously unknown information, as Rockstar Games is always extremely tight-lipped about the inner workings of the GTA franchise.
However, Dr. Dre and Snopp Dogg are close friends, so it would seemingly make sense they would know about what’s going on in each other’s lives.
The big question that remains is what GTA game Dr. Dre is working on if he is in fact producing music for one. The guess that fans want to be true is GTA 6, which doesn’t have any kind of release date or firm marketing material as of yet. However, some fans have also assumed that Snoop Dogg is referencing the upcoming Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy.
The Trilogy will see GTA III, San Andreas and Vice City come to current-gen consoles and PC with a plethora of new advanced features and graphics. The Definitive Edition of these games will release on 11th November, which could line up with Dr. Dre’s timeline of producing music for the GTA franchise.
However, as of this time, nothing can be firmly connected. Dr. Dre could be working on music for either game if Snoop Dogg is telling the truth. Fans will likely find out if Dr. Dre produced any music for the GTA Trilogy when it releases unless Rockstar is planning on updating the games with DLC music of some kind.
