Holiday seasons mean holiday events are coming to GTA Online. One of the holidays that people in the game look forward to the most is Christmas.
With Christmas coming in a few weeks, what will Rockstar bring to GTA Online during this holiday? Will it be more guns or new cosmetics? Keep reading for absolutely everything you need to know about the festive celebrations taking place in Los Santos in 2022.

The GTA Online Christmas Event, Festive Surprise, has returned following the release of the new Weekly Update.
You can read everything that's changed in the latest event week on the above link, but the gist is that ALL Christmas Content is now live.
That includes:
- Snow in Los Santos
- Snowman Collectibles
- The Gooch Event
- Weazel Plaza Shootout Random Events
- New Candy Cane Weapon and much more
We're hoping to see the launch of GTA Online's Christmas event later this week, most likely when the next Event week begins on Thursday 22.
There's a new in-game event coming to GTA Online when the 2022 Festive Surprise event starts later this month.
Dataminers have uncovered a new event for 'The Gooch'
Essentially it looks like a random event where you'll get mugged, and if you chase after 'The Gooch' you can earn a reward.
Once you have taken him out, you will receive all the loot that he stole from you. On top of that, he will leave a present from The Gooch's body as well. If you pick it up, you will receive The Gooch Mask for the first time you take him out.
It looks like fans can look forward to a new collectible to hunt down when the 2022 Festive Surprise event starts in GTA Online.
First off, there's a new snowman collectible coming. Players will need to track down and destroy 25 Snowman Collectibles across Los Santos. Players will earn 1000 RP and $5000 for each Snowmen that are destroyed.
Find and destroy all 25 Snowmen and you'll earn a $125,000 Bonus and the Snowman outfit added to your wardrobe (seen below)
So we know what holiday gifts Rockstar will be gifting players when the next Festive Surprise event begins.
Players will be given the following items:
- Candy Cane Weapon
- Green Reindeer Beer Hat
- Firework Launcher
- 20 x Firework Rockets
- Full Snacks
- Full Armor
- 25 x Sticky Bombs
- 25 x Grenades
- 5 x Proximity Mines
- 10 x Molotovs

The GTA Online Los Santos Drug Wars DLC has gone live today and it looks like there's plenty of leaked content coming from dataminers too. Stand by for updates on any content which could be coming as part of the Christmas celebrations in GTA Online for 2022.
The new GTA Online Winter Update drops this week, titled Los Santos Drug Wars, but we could also get a few hints and teasers of what to expect from the Christmas event for 2022.
We'll be sure to keep an eye out for any leaks relating to the next Festive Surprise event, likely coming later this month.
There's still no word from Rockstar Games on when we can expect to see the Christmas event for GTA Online in 2022, but who knows maybe they'll bring it forward slightly as we've seen with the Halloween event this year.
Don't worry though, it won't be long before it's snowing once again in the state of San Andreas.
What Is The GTA Online Christmas Event?
Usually, GTA Online will have a Christmas event called the Festive Suprise. During this event, Rockstar fills GTA Online with tons of holiday-themed content.
This ranged from new vehicles that had some Christmas themes, new weapons, and even winter missions for you to complete. Weapon and car discounts are a common occurrence during this time frame as well. On top of all of that, it is usually snowing in the game as well during these events.
In recent Festive Surprises, Rockstar has released all previous Christmas content for the current year as well as releasing new content. So that means if you had missed a few years of GTA Online Christmas goodies, logging on this year could catch you up on previous years.
When Will GTA Online Festive Surprise Start In 2022?
Update - December 22 - The GTA Online Christmas Event Is Now Live!
At the time of this writing, there is no confirmed date when the next Christmas event will happen in GTA Online. Normally, the event will start happening a week or so before Christmas and carry on into the first week of the new year. Naturally, it will start on a Thursday following the release of a new event week.
So for now, we'll have to look at when the event started previously to help inform our guesses. We predict it could start on December 22, 2022.

Once we know when the Christmas event will launch in GTA Online, we will update this page accordingly.
But players have a lot to look forward to this season. With GTA 6 being confirmed by Rockstar Games, there is a possibility that this upcoming Christmas event will be filled with more content than ever. So it is worth keeping an eye on this page to find out what Rockstar has cooked up.
