Feeding the Red Ant Queen Offerings & Effects in Grounded

In Grounded's 1.4 update, new Ant Queens have appeared in the backyard. If you are struggling to decide which Mushroom Sandwich offering to feed the Red Ant Queen in particular and what its effects/rewards are, then you are in luck.

We'll explain the Grounded Red Ant Queen offering options available to the player and outline the effects, if any, for Grounded's New Game Plus mode, so let's jump in!

Grounded Red Ant Queen Location

You can find the Red Ant Queen in the lower yard anthill, aka between the Central Grasslands and the Haze Lab. We suggest reading our guide to finding the Haze Lab in Grounded since you will need to head there first to unlock the Mushroom Sandwich recipes anyway.

Red Ant Queen Sandwich Offering Effects & Rewards

First off, you will have to unlock the Mushroom Sandwich recipes and then craft them with specific materials using the Oven. We've got a complete guide to Infected, Juicy, and Poison Mushroom Sandwich variants below.

Now that you know how to unlock the Mushroom Sandwich recipes in Grounded, you can craft one of them and give it to the Red Ant Queen as an offering. It is, however, important to note that you can only give her one Sandwich as an offering in each playthrough, so choose wisely.

To help you choose, we've outlined the effects of each Mushroom Sandwich offering you can give to the Red Ant Queen below.

Juicy Mushroom Sandwich Red Ant Queen Offering & Rewards

This is the nicest option, feeding the Red Ant Queen her favorite food, the Juicy Mushroom Sandwich. She'll even do a little dance, and you will get the Baby Red Ant pet as a reward, which is automatically tamed for the player. 

You'll also be able to loot Ant Friend Offerings, which grants Red Ant Queen Pheromones and Red Ant Eggs as rewards. As a little bonus, the Red Soldier Ants will be neutral permanently. However, this does lock the player out of some great recipes until they take another route and give another offering during New Game Plus.

Poison Mushroom Sandwich Red Ant Queen Offering & Rewards

Giving the Red Ant Queen a Poison Mushroom Sandwich offering will kill her. This means you will be able to loot her corpse, and all the Red Ants will become  aggressive towards you until a New Game Plus. 

So what's the reward? Well, you will get enough loot to craft the Red Strategist Armor, the Stuffed Red Ant Queen, and more. Loot drops include:

• x1 Red Ant Queen Head
• x5 Red Ant Queen Pheromone
• x10 Red Ant Queen Chunk

Behind the corpse of the Red Ant Queen, a path will also open, creating an exit for the anthill. Importantly, there's also a small cave that opens up, where you can harvest a lot of Brittle Quartzite Shards.

Infected Mushroom Sandwich Red Ant Queen Offering & Rewards

If you give the Red Ant Queen the Infected Mushroom Sandwich offering, you will see a message appear saying, "You sense a ripple in an alternate dimension." She will die, just like the Poison Mushroom Sandwich option, so all those rewards apply. However, once you enter New Game Plus mode, you will notice more changes. Specifically, you'll see Infected Soldier Ants and Infected Ants in the Anthill, and the Red Ant Queen will be replaced with the Infected Ant Queen.

In New Game Plus, the Infected Ant Queen can grant players unique recipes for items such as the Killbasa and Glowbasa if you feed her a Moldy Hoagie...Once the player starts another New Game Plus mode following the one with the Infected Ant Queen, she will return to normal.
