Genshin Impact’s 2.1 update brought with it a massive bunch of content based around the nation of Inazuma, highlighting the debut of three characters including the powerful Raiden Shogun, the addition of the Watatsumi and Seirai islands, and a new fishing system. Focusing on the latter, the introduction of fishing within Genshin Impact also brought with it many kinds of fish you can collect, and those can either be used for cooking, decorate your Serenitea Pot, and exchange them for some unique rewards at the Inazuma’s Fishing Association.
One of these rewards is a new weapon known as “The Catch”, a powerful polearm perfect for characters such as the Raiden Shogun, however, you will need to collect some specific fish to get it.
Get “The Catch” by collecting Golden and Rusty Koi
While we have previously talked about how to find the rare Raimei Angelfish, there are also two kinds of fish to collect before getting “The Catch” for free, these being the Golden and Rusty Koi.
The Golden Koi is a large fish said to be the descendant of dragons.
With the horn on its head and its scaleless form clad as if in golden armour, it looks every bit like a king underwater. However, in reality, it can neither call forth the wind and rain nor the power of domination and is actually often the victim of food-snatching due to its weak character.
As for the Rusty Koi, this is a variant species of Koi sometimes termed the "awakened dragon" amongst them. In stark contrast to its rather shabby appearance, it has shed its opulent gold tabard in exchange for a hard armour of rusty bronze. Being a fish with a very strong will, it will fight any interloper that dares to steal its food or enter its territory.
Where to find Golden and Rusty Koi in Genshin Impact?
To find these, you will have three different options to go between the three nations of Teyvat, which you can see in the maps below.
Mondstadt locations
Liyue locations
Inazuma locations
Once you get to any of these points and find a fish pond, you will have to use only Fake Fly Bait to attract them, which you can create using Sakura Bloom and Horsetail, after buying the formula from Nantuck of the Mondstadt Fishing Association.
To unlock “The Catch”, you will need to collect 20 Golden Koi and 20 Rusty Koi, along with six Raimei Angelfish. Don’t forget that most fish in Genshin Impact will take roughly three days to respawn.
Once you get the free weapon in the Fishing Association, you can continue collecting Golden and Rusty Koi and add them to your Serenitea Pot personal pond, so you may have your own collection of fish in your Domain.
And that’s all we got to share with you about the Golden and Rusty Koi. You can find more content about Genshin Impact 2.1 in the link below.
