It’s been nearly four years since Genshin Impact took the gaming world by storm, popularising the gacha RPG and bringing it into the mainstream with its Breath of the Wild inspirations. However, Xbox players have been missing out on the fun ever since, with little to no hope of it ever making the jump. Finally, developer HoYoverse has rather off-handedly confirmed that Genshin Impact is making its way to Xbox Series X and S on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

That’s right, after four years of no news, HoYoverse’s premier gacha RPG is jumping ship. While many players will likely have inevitably already picked up a PlayStation or begun their journey on mobile or PC in the time since its original launch, it’s great news that Genshin Impact will be available on Microsoft’s console very soon. Now, we’re only hoping it makes its way to the Nintendo Switch, too.

With Genshin Impact heading to Xbox, this also sets a precedent for HoYoverse's other titles to release on Xbox as well, especially Honkai Star Rail and the recently-released Zenless Zone Zero. Previously, all of these titles have been PlayStation console exclusive, but that wall has now been broken.

Given Xbox players will be joining on the fun four years late, we’ve no doubt that there will be several anticipated character banner reruns so that new players can catch up on many of the ‘must-have’ units that have been and gone.

Also revealed in the Genshin Impact Gamescom trailer is the new region of Natlan, which will be released with the Genshin Impact Version 5.0 update. The trailer showcases the beautiful environment we’ll get to explore, the bosses we’ll be grinding for loot, and even a glimpse at two new characters - Mualani and Kinich. To no one’s surprise, these characters are just as stylish and bombastic as always.

So, Xbox players should mark their calendars for November 20 so they can finally get their hands on Genshin Impact. Plus, if you’re an existing player, Genshin Impact supports crossplay and cross-progression, so you can easily transfer your account too.
