Genshin Impact Theater Mechanicus guide: Schedule, rewards, and more

Genshin Impact's Lantern Rite event is packed full of content, from new banners to quest lines, Festive Fever meter, and a brand new mini-game that goes by the name Theater Mechanicus

We break down all the elements of this new mode to help you get the most out of it.

When does the Theater Menchanicus end?

The Theater Mechanicus will be available throughout the Lantern Rite, from the 10-28th February, although in order to participate in it you must have previously completed the quests "The Origin of the Lanterns" and "Liyue: Theater Mechanicus".

Theater Mechanicus guide -

The Theater Mechanicus is divided into six phases. By unlocking the following phases, challenges of greater difficulty will also be unlocked.

The challenges of the "Theater Mechanicus" are divided into eight levels of difficulty. The more difficult the challenge, the greater the reward. To unlock new difficulty levels, you must first unlock the corresponding phase and complete the previous difficulty level.

The main objective of the "Theater Mechanicus" is to use the different artifacts available around you, to defeat all the monsters and prevent them from escaping.

To participate in the "Theater Mechanicus", you must go to where Ruijin is and activate the game, however you will need to use a Xiao Lantern for each game.

To enable the Xiao Lanterns, you must have completed the main quest "The Origin of the Lanterns", and seek Jingming in Liyue to teach you how to make them. These can be created on any crafting table, using the following materials:

Once you have these, you can go directly to the "Theater Mechanicus", either by yourself or in Multiplayer mode together with another companion.

Once you are inside the mini-game, you will access a board. Each game will be divided into several rounds of challenges, and each challenge will include a construction phase and a combat phase.

In the construction phase, a countdown will be activated at the top of the screen. During this time the direction in which the monsters will advance will be previously shown on the board.

When you have done this, you can devise your combat strategy and build magical mechanisms, called Mechanici, in the locations you consider appropriate to deal damage to monsters.

To build these Mechanici, you will have to use Veneficus Points. These are obtained at the beginning of the game, by defeating monsters, or by destroying Mechanici that you had built before.

In addition to construction, players can also consume a part of their Veneficus Points to rebuild existing Mechanici, or enable Mystic Arts in these, which allow to activate different effects that will affect the Mechanici, monsters and the difficulty of the challenge.

At the end of the construction phase, the combat phase will begin, in which monsters will appear through a purple portal, and will advance following the path displayed at the beginning of the challenge. If the monsters manage to reach the blue portal, these will escape.

We must emphasize that during the combat phase, the monsters will not attack you, however you will not be able to inflict damage to them, recharge your Elemental Energy or activate your Ultimate Ability.

If you kill the required amount of monsters within the indicated conditions, you will overcome the challenge. If the number of monsters that manage to escape exceeds the limit, you will fail this challenge and the game will end immediately.

When the challenge is over, you will be able to obtain a certain amount of Veneficus Sigils, which you can use to unlock and increase the level of the Mechanici.

Now, each challenge will have different characteristics, which you can check before entering each of these, allowing you to analyze which monsters will appear, what will be the chosen scenario, the objectives to be met, and the goals to complete to obtain more Veneficus Sigils.

All this will affect the amount of Veneficus Sigils that you can receive, since the riskier the challenge, the greater the reward, and the more chances you will have to increase your level of Festive Fever.

Now, let's talk about Mechanici. These are based on all the elemental types present in the game, so by combining certain Mechanici in a single area, you can activate Elemental Reactions, which can exterminate or delay the advance of monsters.

Mechanici will get stronger with each upgrade. Upon reaching a certain level, they will gain additional effects. The type and level of Mechanici available at each stage depend on how advanced your Mechanici are outside of it.

Finally, we must remember that each completed challenge will also give us more Peace Talismans, which can be exchanged for special rewards within the Xiao Market. The amount of Talismans that you can receive will vary depending on the stage of the Theater you wish to play.
