Tomorrow the Lantern Rite gala will be over, after a month full of celebration where the people of Teyvat were able to raise their wishes to the sky through a Xiao Lantern.
That is why Genshin Impact's developers, miHoYo, has released all the details about the new character that will soon arrive in the game, whose weapon is now available through the Epitome Invocation banner.
Introducing Hu Tao, the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
Hu Tao: Backstory and abilities
Hu Tao is a somewhat mysterious character since despite being a very young person, she has become the main person in charge of all the funeral affairs of Liyue, working together with Zhongli.
However, beyond her seriousness as Funeral Parlor Director, Hu Tao is often well known for her prankster and curious attitude, as well as having some wicked and mischievous ideas from time to time.
Even so, she always tends to take respect for the position in which she is towards life, and towards all those who go to the afterlife in a funeral march surrounded by dim lights, carrying a great responsibility with the people of this world and the next.

Her normal attack, Secret Spear of Wangsheng, allows her to hit the enemies with up to six rapid strikes using her polearm. When charged, Hu Tao can consume a certain amount of Stamina to lunge forward, dealing damage to enemies along the way.
Her elemental skill, Guide to Afterlife, allows Hu Tao to consume a part of her HP to knock nearby enemies back, while also entering the Paramita Papilio state.
While in the Paramita Papilio state, Hu Tao’s ATK will be increased based on her Max HP, although this ATK Bonus cannot exceed 400% of her Base ATK. This state will also convert her attack DMG to Pyro DMG, while also giving her more resistance to interruption.

Along with this, Hu Tao’s charged attacks while in the Paramita Papilio state will apply the Blood Blossom effect to enemies hit. The enemies affected by this effect will take Pyro DMG every 4s, and this will refresh every time Hu Tao hits them again.
When activating her elemental burst, Spirit Soother, Hu Tao will command a blazing spirit to deal Pyro DMG around you. For each enemy hit by the spirit, Hu Tao will recover a percentage of her Max HP up to five times.
In case her health is below or equal to 50%, both the HP regeneration and Pyro DMG will be increased.
Best weapons for Hu Tao
Staff of Homa
(Picture: miHoYo)
Among the most recommended weapons, you should try to get the Staff of Homa, a 5-star polearm that can only be obtained through gacha, being the most recent addition to the Polearm’s pool of weapons, and the essential weapon of Hu Tao.
A weapon that, although not refined to the maximum, grants more power based on a percentage of her Max HP, while also giving an ATK Bonus if her HP is less than 50%.
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear

Next up is the Primordial Jade Winged-Spear, another 5-star polearm that can only be obtained through gacha, being the main weapon of the newest character added to the game, Xiao.
This weapon grants more power with each hit that is made with it for a few seconds, something that benefits Hu Tao's DPS level.
Deathmatch

Finally, and in case you don’t want to spend a lot in the gacha system, you can also look for the Deathmatch, a polearm available through the Battle Pass rewards.
With this weapon, every time you have at least 2 opponents nearby, your ATK and DEF will increase according to its refine level, with a higher ATK Bonus when you have less than 2 enemies around you.
Best artifacts for Hu Tao
Crimson Witch of Flames
(Picture: miHoYo)
With Hu Tao being a Pyro-based character, this is by far the best artifact set you can choose for her.
This set is composed of five artifacts, being the Witch's Heart Flames (Goblet), the Witch's Scorching Hat (Circlet), the Witch's Flower of Blaze (Flower), the Witch's Ever-Burning Plume (Plume), and the Witch's End Time (Sand).
When having two pieces of it, it will give you a 15% Pyro DMG Bonus, however, when you have at least four pieces, it will increase Overloaded and Burning DMG by 40%, while also increasing Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%. Finally, using an Elemental Skill will increase 2-Piece Set effects by 50% for 10s, up to three stacks.

As for the statistics, these will be focused on the ATK and CRIT, in addition to increasing her HP and elemental DMG:

Recommended team composition
To get the most out of her, we recommend using Hu Tao together with:
- Xingqiu (Hydro): He will enable Hu Tao to continuously deal more damage to her opponents with Vaporize reactions.
- Bennett (Pyro): Provides Pyro resonance while not healing Hu Tao, to have more advantage using Hu Tao’s status buffs.
- Zhongli (Geo): His skills prevent significant damage with his shield while providing a moving debuff, making it safer for Hu Tao to battle around while having low health.
- We can also suggest choosing any Cryo character to deal Melt DMG, or healing characters like Barbara to deal Vaporize DMG while also giving a window escape.
