Original story continues:
Genshin Impact will be opening an area formerly unavailable in the Inazuma region sometime during the next gameplay update. During the 2.5 Special Program live stream, developer miHoYo provided an official first look into the unexplored territory, appropriately titled "The Chasm".
This area, which multiple leaks have previously teased, will be available for exploration in the Genshin Impact 2.6. This guide details everything we know about the Inazuman area, The Chasm, including its release date, early concept art, new location, enemies, and more.
Genshin Impact 2.6 - The Chasm Release Date
According to miHoYo, The Chasm will be for Travelers to explore during the latter half of the 2.6 update. With the 2.5 update launching globally on 16th February 2022, the next update could arrive in late March 2022.
This is all dependent on whether the developer sticks to the six-week update schedule. As expected, there is no exact release date for this area's arrival; however, it is safe to assume that we may be looking at a possible launch in late March or early April 2022.
Genshin Impact 2.6 - The Chasm Early Concept Artwork
The 2.5 Special Program live stream revealed early concept artwork for The Chasm, including a brand new location, The Surface. According to the in-game lore, The Chasm started as an active mining area for workers from the Liyue region to farm raw materials.
Nevertheless, it became the location of a massive celestial crash; however, it actively continued its mining activities. As a result, the area began to populate with rare and unusual stones and ore, while its vegetation and the surrounding earth started to take on strange colours and properties.
Other characters, including the researcher Esther, has referenced this area and discussed the similarities between The Chasm and Dragonspine. She noted that while both areas experience extreme weather conditions, they may share similar terrain characteristics.
Recently, the mine has been closed following reports of a shift that forced the workers to head back home. A small section of The Chasm is accessible; however, powerful monsters reside in the mine's depths, with one, in particular, that will appear in the 2.6 update.
Genshin Impact 2.6 - The Chasm Enemies
We can expect to see unique monsters appearing in this area, with one monster revealed in the Special program live stream. Travelers will be encountering the Ruin Serpent, an ancient snake-like creature that exists deep within The Chasm.
There isn't much information on how the creature settled in The Chasm or if it's responsible for the "shift" in the area. What is certain is that Travelers will need to be cautious when they explore this hazardous location.
That completes the guide to The Chasm area coming soon to Genshin Impact. We'll continue to follow this story for the latest news and updates on this mysterious new location.
