The latest Genshin Impact Special Program has shown us all of the content that will arrive into the game, this time as part of the 2.2 update, “Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog”.
While much of its content will be mostly focused around its new events and the debut of Thoma, the “Protector from Afar”, as part of the adventurers’ roster, one of its biggest features will come with the addition of the Tsurumi Island within the Inazuma region.
Genshin Impact 2.2 update - Tsurumi Island, Remarkable Chests and specialities
Tsurumi Island will be the last of the main locations to be introduced in Inazuma, as all of its islands were previously added during the 2.0 and 2.1 updates. Besides, together with Seirai Island, this new location will be one of the most mysterious around Teyvat.
The island will be located south of Yashiori Island and southwest of Seirai Island. Here, travellers will be able to find seven Waypoints, two Waverider Waypoints, and a Statue of the Seven, among its seven different regions for players to explore.
This island is well known for its dense fog that creates a gloomy atmosphere, making it hard to watch your step when you walk in it. For inexperienced travellers, exploring this place will be quite a challenge, as many have got lost in the fog and never came back.
Also, according to some of the previews, the island will be unlike any other seen before in the game, as it will host ever-changing weather, so players will have to deal with brand new climate types as they navigate the island, making some places inaccessible at some points during the day.
The island will also introduce a new type of chest called Remarkable Chests. These special chests contain new Inazuma-themed Furnishing Blueprints that can be used in Genshin Impact's Housing System, the Serenitea Pot, to craft exclusive and stylish items for your Realm.
Last but not least, its local speciality will be the Fluorescent Fungus, a mushroom that glows like a nightlight, with some curious power lying hidden within them. These are used as Ascension Materials for Thoma.
Genshin Impact 2.2 update - Rifthound Abyss Monsters
As with the debut of the other Inazuman islands, travellers will encounter some new monsters in the upcoming version exclusively found on Tsurumi Island.
These new scary-looking monsters are called “Rifthound Whelps” and “Rifthounds”, and as cool as they seem, rumours say these beasts are capable of corroding the boundaries of the world.
Rifthound beasts are mysterious monsters right from the Abyss and will be divided into four types according to their different elemental powers. Using their piercing claws, these beasts can strike forward and deal elemental damage.
In addition, during battle, they can go invisible stealthily moving around the field to attack, and most importantly, these monsters have a very unique attack mechanic, as each time their attacks hit you, your entire party will be continually affected by the “Corrosion” status, making all characters’ HP depleted each second.
Characters will shields won’t be immune to this effect as well, as the Corrosion will impact the HP directly.
