Since the Inazuma region was introduced to Travelers during the 2.0 update for the action RPG Genshin Impact, Travelers have been enjoying their stay on the pristine island. Meeting new characters and reunited with familiar faces, new adventures to embark on and more, it appears there will still be plenty of things to do in Inazuma.
Just days away from the upcoming v2.2 update, developer miHoYo have detailed what’s next for the Inazuma region, including new characters, weapons and a rather mysterious island to add to your travel log. But we have all the details on what’s coming with the 2.2 update, including release time, new characters, new events and more.
Genshin Impact 2.2 update: Release time
The Genshin Impact version 2.2 update, known as the “Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog”, arrives on 13 October 2021 at 11:00 (UTC+8) after the maintenance break of five hours.
Genshin Impact 2.2 update: New characters
The only new character arriving in Genshin Impact is the Pyro polearm-wielding housekeeper from Inazuma, Thoma. A member of the Kamisato Clan’s personnel, Thoma was first introduced to Travelers during the Inazuma Archon quest.
Utilising his Pyro abilities and proficiency with the polearm, Thoma’s Elemental Skill will provide much-needed assistance to his teammates with a defensive shield that absorbs damage when unleashed.
Thoma is considered by many to be friendly, loyal and protective as his abilities will come in handy for his allies.
Already made available exclusively for Travelers playing on the PlayStation platform, Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy will now be available to PC and mobile players in the 2.2 update. A five-star warrior, Travelers can acquire her from your mail as long as they have reached Adventure Rank 20.
With her Cryo abilities and her trusted predator bow at her side, she brings new characteristics that Travelers may want to consider before adding her to your party. Not only is her bow quite deadly and boasting a rapid firing rate, but she can also hold her shots for more precision, perfect for sniping, which Travelers may encounter.
Genshin Impact 2.2 update: New banners
During the 2.2 livestream, miHoYo revealed the game’s next banners, which will feature two reruns and one for the brand new character, Thoma. The first rerun will be Tartaglia’s banner event, Farewell to Snezhnaya, with the next rerun will be Hu Tao’s banner event, Moment of Bloom, with Thoma appearing in her banner event.
Thoma will additionally gain a perk in which he will receive a massive drop-rate boost during Hu Tao’s banner event. Both Tartaglia and Hu Tao are five-star banner events.
Genshin Impact 2.2 update: New content
Aside from the new characters, banners and events arriving in the Genshin Impact 2.2 update, there are plenty more content Travelers can look forward to.
The game’s newest character addition, Thoma, will be receiving a Hangout Event in which Travelers can receive a glimpse into his daily housekeeper duties and routine. Additionally, there will be another Hangout Event for Sayu.
Four new weapons, including one five-star weapon, will be arriving with the update.
- Five-star Polar Star bow
- Four-star Wavebreaker’s Fin polearm
- Four-star Akoumaru claymore
- Four-star Mouun’s Moon bow
The final location for the Inazuma region, Tsurumi Island, will be added in the upcoming update. While the addition will complete the region, however, its backstory is riddled with mystery. Speaking of Tsurumi Island, there will be new Rifthound monsters included with the 2.2 update. Travelers will likely encounter these formidable monsters during the Labyrinth Warriors event and when they eventually travel to Tsurumi Island.
Travelers will receive two new updates for the Serenitea Pot housing system. A brand new layout, the Silken Courtyard and a new furnishing, a floating platform, will be available soon.
Genshin Impact 2.2 update: New events
Travelers can expect brand new events arriving in the 2.2 update that will test an array of skills, uncover secrets and overcome powerful enemies. Whichever events you wish to participate in, there will be plenty of rewards, including Primogems and Mora, which Travelers can earn upon completion of these events.
- Labyrinth Warriors: Travel to a Domain in the Inazuma region and take on waves of deadly monsters over the course of five stages.
- Shadow of the Ancients: Team up with a scholar from the Adventurers’ Guild to uncover the mysteries of an investigative operation
- Tuned to the World’s Sounds: Enjoy the vistas and sweet sounds of the Floral Zither, gifted to Travelers by Kazuha, in this musical event. Perform the musical pieces to be rewarded with the event’s instrument.
- Dreams of Bloom: Test your gardening skills by completing tasks for an Inazuman florist, Sakuya, where Travelers will be rewarded with planting seeds for your Serenitea Pot.
