Since its original announcement, the Genshin Impact community has learned a bit about every single one of the seven Nations of Teyvat.
At the moment, players can only explore around the regions of Mondstadt and Liyue, and with the Inazuma region scheduled to be released on July 2021, the road to discover the secrets of the other nations nears closer, however, there is one place that will remain as a mystery, at least for the next few years.
We are talking about Celestia, a floating island that can be seen in the skies of Teyvat, and which is rumoured to be the residence of the gods. According to the lore of the game, it is said that only mortals who perform great and heroic feats will ascend to Celestia and achieve godhood, where they will watch over their people from above.
The only known Ascended to Celestia
Thanks to this description, we may say for sure this is the kind of place where the Elemental Archons and the Adepti were created, however not many details about their presence in Celestia has confirmed so far, while it is known two people are said to have ascended to Celestia: Vennessa and Guhua.
Vennessa was a hero of Mondstadt who lived around 1,000 years ago, during the era when the Aristocracy reigned, who served as a gladiator in the Colosseum and became known as the Liontooth Knight for her undefeated streak.
According to the tales, with the help of the Anemo Archon Barbatos and a Ragnvindr knight, she brought an end to the Aristocracy, establishing the nation of Mondstadt and the Knights of Favonius. All these feats would be enough to be ascended to Celestia, once she made her last breath in Windrise.
As for Guhua, not much is known about him except that he serves as a mythological figure in Liyue, as he was part of the Adeptus who looked over the wellness of that region. While we can find some bits of intel from the Guhua Clan, there is not much relation about him with this brotherhood.
The Archon War and the Seven Archons
Moving back into Celestia, the mysterious island can be seen from any location around Teyvat, as it stays completely still at day and night. Besides, this floating palace can also be seen during the opening cutscene of the game and even with much more detail in its manga, showing an island comprising several landmasses.
While the history of Celestia is a secret as of now, if you are really advanced into the story of the game, you may recall one particular event that helped shape Teyvat, the Archon War.
Thousands of years ago, Celestia opened seven divine seats for unknown reasons, this event caused chaos and misery throughout Teyvat, as the world was quickly tormented by the gods fighting among themselves to claim those divine seats.
The winners of this cruel war were known as The Seven, of which two of them have already been featured in the game, Venti and Zhongli, and so far, brief details of the next Archon have been confirmed through Chapter 2’s Prologue, being the Shogun Raiden who governs with iron fist over all of Inazuma.
The Seven Archons are said to resonate with the power of Celestia directly through their Gnosis, artifacts that hold all of their abilities and power in a single Elemental core. They, and other gods in the world of Teyvat, have a connection to Celestia but remain silent on the subject themselves, evading mentions about it when asked into the game.
When will we learn more about Celestia?
Up to this point the home of the gods will remain a big enigma, as the developers of the game will release the third of the seven nations in just a few weeks, and with four regions still to make their appearance, it seems we are gonna have to wait a long time to step foot on Celestia.
But still, we might learn more about Celestia during the new Archon Quests featured on the update 1.7 and beyond, as we start to understand its secrets and the role of the Heavenly Principles.
