The Livery system allows players to unleash their creative side by creating unique car wraps, liveries, and vinyl decals in Forza Motorsport. Like in previous Motorsport and Horizon games, these designs can be saved privately or shared with the Forza community to use on their cars.
Additionally, they can be rewarding as they can earn Credits for each design downloaded, used, and liked in-game. If you wish to learn more about the world of liveries, we've explained how liveries work and how to use the Livery Editor in Forza Motorsport.
What Are Liveries in Forza Motorsport?
Over the last few years, the Livery system has been one of the most regularly included features in Forza Motorsport and Horizon games. Liveries are user-created designs and customizations that allow players to give their cars a personal touch, which the community can share and use online.
It has been subjected to criticisms from its community over its moderation and enforcement policies, which have seen players banned for creating parody designs while questionable ones remained available. Developer Turn 10 Studios has made very little comments regarding liveries over the last few years, but in the lead-up to the launch of Forza Motorsport, it has updated its policies for its User Generated Content (UGC), which includes liveries.
All UGCs must abide by the Forza Code of Conduct, in which every piece that gets reported or flagged will be evaluated by their mod team before issuing a verdict. As such, any livery design that contains “notorious iconography, profanity, child endangerment, defamation & impersonation, spam/advertising, drug symbolism & imagery, sexually inappropriate/suggestive, harm against people/animals, and much more” will not be allowed and can be subjected to suspensions and bans.
How To Use The Livery Editor In Forza Motorsport?
The Livery Editors and all liveries can be accessed in-game by going to the Cars category from the Main Menu and selecting Design & Paint; they can find the Livery Editor by selecting “Create Vinyl Group.” Additionally, players can find their livery designs under “My Designs,” access other UGC or livery designs by selecting “Find Designs,” depending on the car chosen, they’ll find unique designs from creators globally.
When using the Livery Editor, they’ll have access to a workstation where they can add the available shapes and designs, including manufacturer liveries, available to create layer groups. It’s important to note that when saving a livery design, it needs to have a minimum of two layers, which they can further customize by altering its shape, color, and orientation and can be moved around to change the placement on the car.
Once they’ve created a design, they can immediately share it with the Forza community and save it privately to continue working on it or wish not to share it with the community. The design can be applied to your car when customizing its exterior from the Design & Paint category and can be imported or exported to other Forza games.
Lastly, liveries can be extremely rewarding for creators as they can earn Credits for their designs depending on their usage. This helps calculate the Credits earned as they can receive 100 Credits for a design downloaded, 200 Credits for each use, and 500 Credits for every liked design.
Forza Motorsport will be available on 10th October 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, Cloud Gaming, Windows PC, and Steam. Players who've pre-ordered the game will receive Early Access, which begins on 5th October 2023.
