According to the Forza Motorsport PC FAQ and an official Forza forum post, the game will support crossplay and cross-progression at launch on 10th October 2023. This will allow players to retrieve their game save files, access their player profiles, and begin their journey to the championships in Forza Motorsport across console and PC.
This is especially important for players on PC through Steam, who can access many Xbox-related features by linking their Xbox Live and Steam accounts. This will allow Steam players to unlock shared Achievements and the cross-progression features alongside the Steam features like Achievements, trading cards, and chat emotes.
With crossplay and cross-progression supported for Forza Motorsport, players can enjoy the benefits of valuable multiplayer features that console players will enjoy. These include the Featured Multiplayer mode and the Free Play private lobbies to create the best racing experience possible with friends in-game.
If you want to learn how to sync your Xbox Live and Steam accounts to play Forza Motorsport, we’ve explained in a separate guide on how to achieve this. This does require players to have an Xbox Live account to begin linking the accounts and enjoy the crossplay and cross-progression features available.
Speaking of PC, players still have time ahead of the game’s release to ensure their PC’s current specs align with the official requirements to run Forza Motorsport. Additionally, if you’re looking to go mobile with the racing game, the developer has noted that Forza Motorsport can be played on the Steam Deck; however, it’s not verified as of writing.
Forza Motorsport will be available on 10th October 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, Cloud Gaming, Windows PC, and Steam. Players who’ve pre-ordered the game will receive Early Access, which begins on 5th October 2023.
