How To Get Howler Claws in Fortnite and What They Do Explained

With the arrival of Fortnitemares, comes tons of new Halloween-themed content for players to enjoy such as skins, map changes, game modes, and more. A new set of items that players can find are the Howler Claws, and to do so, you'll need to find one of the new Alteration Altars on the map.

So below we'll be giving you a brief overview of how to find the Alteration Altars, and subsequently the Howler Claws in Fortnite. And get you slicing through your enemies like a true werewolf. 

Fortnite - Where to Find Alterations Altars

During the Fortnitemares event, the Howler Claws can be found by performing the Ritual emote at one of the Alteration Altars scattered throughout the map. When you finish the emote, you'll be rewarded with the claws

Below we have listed all the spots on the map where you can find the Alteration Altars and perform the emote to get the Howler Claws: 

• Shiny Sound (formerly Sleepy Sound)

• North of the Lustrous Lagoon

• East Chromejam Junction (formerly Logjam Junction)

• At Flutter Barn

• South of Shimmering Shrine

• Around the Reality Tree (three Altars total here)

• Northeast of Cloudy Condos

Fortnite - How to Use Howler Claws

To use the Howler Claws, you'll need to equip them in an inventory. Using them transforms you into a wolf-like monster capable of hunting down enemies like wild prey with the use of three new abilities that they grant you.

Wolfscent gives you the ability to track nearby enemies, providing you with all the information you need to catch them off guard. If there are no nearby enemies, the cooldown will be reset immediately, making the ability immediately available when you need it again. 

When a nearby enemy is tracking you with the claws equipped, you'll be alerted by an increasingly loud heartbeat, so keep the volume on your headphones high to stay informed.

Slash is a fairly simple four-combo melee attack that deals decent damage. It performs especially well (and is pretty fun) when used in close-quarters combat. 

Air Slash allows you to do a double jump and slash opponents when you land on them. A fun move that makes you feel like Wolverine, but it's also a tactical one for when you are overwhelmed by more than one opponent.
