Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 brought plenty of new content and weapon mechanics, but some changes flew under the radar. This week's challenge, dislodge a runaway boulder with a slide kick is based on one of those new changes that Epic Implemented in the new season.
Slide Kicks are something we haven't really seen in Fortnite before, and though they have a name, they aren't as distinct as an entirely new feature. It's easy to miss what this challenge means, but this guide will tell you exactly how to dislodge a boulder with the kick and earn some more XP.
Fortnite - How to Dislodge a Runaway Boulder With a Slide Kick
While Slide Kicks may sound like a new melee move that players have access to, it's more of a passive ability that everyone has in the game now. With the latest Chapter 3 Season 4 update, Sliding into players can actually knock them back and be used to clear a path when you're seemingly surrounded. In the past, body blocks would work, but not anymore.
These changes to the Slide knockback can also be applied to structures and anything else that has HP. So, the name Slide Kick is simply referring to the ability to damage structures or knock back enemies by sliding directly into them. Take this idea, and bring it over to a boulder to tackle this week's challenge.

Runaway Boulders were added last season as trap-like objects that could be hit off of a rock platform. Breaking it off causes it to roll downhill and damage anything in its path. To Dislodge a Runaway Boulder with a Slide Kick in Fortnite, you simply need to slide into the boulder and knock it down. There are no special mechanics involved.
However, the Slide Kick does barely any damage in Fortnite. Each hit will do about 10-15 damage, so we recommend hitting the Runaway Boulder at least a couple of times. The boulder platforms start at 180 health, so more than a few slides will be needed to knock it down without some hits.
Sliding too close to the boulder may not count, so it's best to get a running head start with some distance before Slide Kicking into the rock. It's an easy stack of XP and then you can move on to the next set of Week 1 Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 Challenges.
