There aren't many modes of transportation in Fortnite right now, as Epic Games still has motorboats disabled in competitive due to multiple, severe glitches. Motorboats, however, have returned to non-competitive play. While the developer is still fixing motorboat issues, they have announced the Fortnite Joy Ride update, which will finally bring cars to the game.
Fortnite Joy Ride update: Cars incoming
On Twitter, Epic Games announced the official release date for the Fortnite Joy Ride update, which will finally see the arrival of cars in the game. Fortnite cars were supposed to release back on 21st July, but Epic needed a few more weeks to visit a mechanic.

On 5th August (exact time unknown), the Fortnite Joy Ride update will release, as revealed by the developer on the official Fortnite Twitter account, stating: "It’s not just a name. It’s a warning. Experience the #FortniteJoyRide Update on 8.5.2020.

At the time of writing, it is unclear what else will be in the Fortnite Joy Ride update. Fans are expecting refueling stations or gas tanks, thanks to multiple early datamine leaks about Fortnite cars.
Fortnite cars leaked details
Thanks to multiple leaks, we know cars in Fortnite will have a boosting feature, allowing players to travel at fast speeds around the map. Cars will also come in four sizes, with different levels of fuel consumption.
The Whiplash car which Epic Games showcased in the Fortnite Joy Ride update announcement, will be the smallest of the lot. Check out the leaked Fortnite car specifications below.
